Rooted in Detroit’s rich musical legacy, Dakim draws inspiration from the city’s techno pioneers, jazz greats like Thelonious Monk, and iconic producers such as J Dilla, Aphex Twin, and Timbaland. Dakim’s sonic palette is complex, glitchy, and deeply rhythmic—often described as “afrofuturist” and “bone-atomizing.” His tracks transcend traditional beat-making, unfolding as living, breathing musical organisms. He is a master of drum programming, working across tools like the SP and MPC samplers to craft immersive, unpredictable compositions. the 24-25 school year was magical. we went from the bare basics in #garageband on ios to producing multichannel spatial compositions in @ableton . starting from nothing, we jumped from iPads and headphones to a 16 speaker system. we grew beyond our classroom to having performances all over campus, even entering spaces once hidden, unknown and restricted to our students. our capstone with @audiumsf was a huge success. many thanks to the whole team. we’ll be back next year! most thanks to my wonderful students, who have shown me how rewarding and inspiring life can be. i worked with some of the most talented and kind people i’ve ever met, and got to help guide their creativity. an immeasurable gift. all the thousands of hours making beats and studying sound have led to teaching, the best thing i’ve ever done. i’m grateful beyond words. excited for what comes next… #garageband @ableton @studioseratos @tracklib @splice @presonus @elf_audio @rolandglobal @akai_pro @yamahamusicusa #ngibusisiwe
