@ciara THE MET GALA 2026
This year really was all about patience and trusting my gut. There was a lot of adjusting, stepping back, starting, restarting and trying new techniques when constructing the crown, allowing the process to lead us instead of forcing it. I leaned on
@rizoscurls the whole way through from prepping and protecting Ciara’s hair of any damage to unconventionally using the products to mold structural pieces. It’s not only a beautiful line for enhancing textured hair, though this process I learned that it’s also great for more creative styling.
The look was originally very different but once it was completed I didn’t feel it was the right look to both represent Ciara and embody Queen Nefertiti so with very little time till the carpet I had to think of a plan B. All in all this took 14 hours of prep, 4 assistants, and 2 days to bring our vision to life. A sculptural, gold-crowned moment that felt alive from every angle, inspired by the Queen Nefertiti and her symbolic beauty which still till this day is one of the greatest pieces of art.
I’ve always felt connected to the artistry of ancient Egyptian culture, especially Nefertiti. There’s something about her representation of beauty that feels untouchable and timeless. When creating this look we didn’t want to be too literal, we wanted to channel her energy and translate that same power into something modern, something that could live on its own through Ciara.
Another Met Gala for the book!
How did you guys feel about this look?
