I had a lot of fun last Saturday, hosting a craft table in front of my studio on the @brooklandartswalk . We painted the stem valves from bicycle inner tubes into beautiful cherry blossoms. Thanks to @cyclekillerva for helping me quickly cut 60 “flowers,” and running the shop while I did demos. Thank you to my buddy Alex for taking to customers while I got the materials together that morning. And thank you to the organizers of the @noroozmarket@kuzehpottery@kuchehdc for a wonderful event, with wonderful attendees who were willing to experiment with making something just for fun. Looking forward to doing it again next year!

15 years ago today, we stood among our family and friends, and asked them to support our love and union. It was before marriage equality. It would mean nothing in the “eyes of the law,” and would not protect us in cases of sickness or financial need. But it was important to us that we acknowledge what we meant to each other, with the people who meant the most to us.
Four years later we would marry in a DC courthouse, with full protections under the law - a seismic shift in our world, allowing for a kind of security and public personhood that so many people take for granted.
It is today, however, that we celebrate our love and commitment to one another. Today is the day we say again, “I promise to be in the moment with you for all the moments of our lives,” and ask our community to continue to support our union. One of the best things about having a birthday during soccer season, is receiving tickets from my wife to see the @uswnt play around the corner from our home.
