DCHC Is back and this is our statement on our commitment to shows, the scene, and the larger community.
"DCHC519 is back.
Not as a brand, not as a business but as a community, a collective, and a commitment to each other.
We’re building a space grounded in anarchist and antifascist values: a place where everyone is welcome, everyone is respected, and everyone has the chance to take part in something bigger than themselves.
This scene only survives when we take care of each other throughm means such as mutual aid, direct action, solidarity, and shared responsibility.
This is a home for the weird, the loud, the broken, the furious, the hopeful.
A place where connection is built, community is strengthened, and the torch is passed to the next generation.
Zero tolerance. Clear boundaries. Collective safety.
If someone acts in a way that makes people unsafe; harassment, aggression, bigotry, intimidation... They will be asked to leave.
Sitiuation depending, they’re welcome to return next time and do better, but if the behaviour repeats, they’re done. No drama. No debate.
If someone acts predatory, sexualizes youth, or violates the safety of the community they will be dealt with and permanently removed.
If someone is seen to be expressing Homophobic, Transphobic, Racist, Ableist and other Bigoted view or ideologies they will be dealt with and permanently removed.
We protect each other. Full stop.
Money flows back to the people and the movement.
Every dollar from ticket sales covers:
• venue space
• sound equipment
• techs
• and the bands themselves
Any additional proceeds from shows or DCHC merch sales go directly into:
• future DIY events
• building a sustainable scene
• mutual aid efforts
• and local charities supporting real community needs
No profiteering. No gatekeeping. No hierarchy.
Just collective power invested back into the people who make this possible.

Why The Pit Feels Different Now....
Moshing, Throwing Down, and the Sound of the Times.
The pit feels different lately... Faster, harder, more chaotic. But that’s not random. Hardcore has always been the reflection of world around it, and right now people are angry. Rising costs, dead-end jobs, endless war, corrupt systems… all that pressure has to go somewhere. The pit is where it gets released. It’s raw emotion made physical.
But hardcore still runs on the same code: respect the space, pick people up, don’t target people who aren’t participating. Step in if you’re ready for it, step back if you’re not. DCHC won’t police the pit... but if someone’s harming people or the space, they’re out. The pit belongs to everyone who respects it.
We keep us safe.

This one hurts.
After 13 years, countless shows, sweat-soaked basements, packed rooms, busted knuckles, lifelong friendships, and pure KW punk grit... @theessentialletdowns are taking their final bow.
This is a sad day in KW punk history...
The Essential Letdowns weren’t just a band. They were a constant. A backbone of the local scene. A reminder that punk doesn’t need permission, polish, or approval... just honesty, heart, and community. For over a decade they showed up, played hard, supported others, and helped hold this scene together through every rise, fall, and rebuild.
Thirteen years of: DIY shows, shared bills with touring bands and first-timers alike, sweat on the floor, voices gone by the last song, a sound that felt like home for KW punks
And now… two shows left.
Two chances to say thank you. Two chances to stand shoulder to shoulder one last time. Two moments you’ll regret missing if you don’t show up.

If you’ve ever been to a KW punk show.
If you’ve ever played a bill with them.
If you’ve ever screamed along to their songs.
If you’ve ever believed in this scene.
YOU BETTER BE THERE!
Scenes don’t survive without bands like this. They don’t get replaced. They leave a mark, and that mark stays forever.
Thank you, Letdowns, for 13 years of commitment, honesty, and punk as fuck integrity.
KW punk history is being written right now.
Don’t miss it. Be a Letdown too!

We know, we know more reading....
But we just wanted to say thank you and that we are forever grateful to our community and every single person who makes up the underground music scene in Waterloo Region. We can't wait to see everyone in January so please be safe, enjoy your family and friends and let's make 2026 the year that changed something.....
Much Love and Solidarity To All!
Sometimes Anti Social, Always Anti Fascist.
No gods. No masters. No fascists.
No war but the class war.
Community is survival. Solidarity is the only tradition worth keeping.

Why This Space Exists
This space exists because scenes don’t survive on good intentions alone. They survive when people build infrastructure, take responsibility for each other, and commit to something longer than a single show or release cycle.
This is a long-term project. It is meant to last. It is meant to be copied. If others see this and build their own versions—good. That’s the point.
DCHC Calls For Community Participation -
This isn’t something to watch from the sidelines.... If you’re a band, an organizer, a writer, a zinester, a filmer, a photographer, a creator, artists, a sound tech, a builder, a troublemaker, or someone looking for a place to belong.... this is an invitation.
Not to consume but to contribute. To take responsibility, to help build something that doesn’t fold the moment it gets hard.
DCHC isn’t a brand. It’s a commitment.
@dchc519
My Friends, My Family.
DCHC An Anarchist Distro & Infoshop -
This space will also function as an explicitly anarchist, explicitly antifascist distro and infoshop.
We will carry:
* Zines
* Books
* Pamphlets
* Posters
* Mutual aid resources
* Music
* Band merch
* DCHC merch
Everything operates on a pay-what-you-can, fundraising-focused model. Money raised goes directly back into:
* Direct action
* Mutual aid
* Reinvestment into the space itself
This is not retail. This is material support.
Who This Space Is For -
This space exists for punks, hardcore kids, activists, underprivileged youth, minorities, and anyone searching for community.
It is all ages. A core part of this project is a youth-focused band incubator program... Access to space, gear, recording, mentorship, and encouragement for people who are too often locked out before they ever get a chance to start.
No gatekeeping.
No paywalls.
No clout economy.
Who This Space Is Not For -
Boundaries Are Not Negotiable
This space is not neutral.
Fascists, abusers, predators, bigots, cops, and anyone who makes others unsafe are not welcome here.
No excuses. No debate. No endless second chances where harm continues.
Community safety is a shared responsibility.
Part 2
@dchc519 On Space, Infrastructure, and What We’re Building
DCHC has secured a space. Not as a venue. Not as a business. Not as something to be consumed.
This is a long-term autonomous space, built intentionally and operated collectively, meant to exist outside the constant instability and extraction that has hollowed out so many scenes before us.
The space is primarily private by design. Its location will remain intentionally vague. Safety, autonomy, and longevity matter more than visibility. Public programming will happen when it makes sense and when it serves the work—not the other way around.
This space exists to do work. Music as Documentation, Not Content. The space will function as a place to practice, rehearse, and record. Sometimes that means rough demos. Sometimes that means high-quality live-off-the-floor sessions.
We will be filming and recording multi-song, one-take sessions with minimal editing... raw, honest, and grounded in reality. These sessions will be released on YouTube and Bandcamp, used to promote bands, but more importantly to document the living history of the scene as it exists now.
After the amps cool, we’ll sit down with bands and talk.About where they come from. About how they survive. About politics, organizing, burnout, community, and why they keep doing this at all. These interviews aren’t for algorithms or press kits. They’re an archive. An oral record. A refusal to let this disappear undocumented.
Part 1
It's been an absolute honor to be able to be in @backbone519 and share the stage with such insanely talented young musicians and flat out amazing people. Sam, Angel, and Mike... Thank you.
Last night in Toronto at primalnotestudios was probably one of the most insane and fun sets that I have had the privilege to play. The crowd was fucking electric and didn't stop start to finish. Having @luke_n.stuff and @jamies_wxrld on stage for "Gouge" was absolute fucking insanity, it was an honor to be able to take part in, and honestly the double vocal thing has been a dream of mine since seeing The Fitzpatrick Incident back in like 05/06 in Stratford, Ontario. Not only were they the band that cemented my love for hardcore they were a huge inspiration to getting on stage and being in bands.... Truth be told, they were the first time I ever did vocals on a stage when their vocalist fucked his ankle up so bad he couldn't continue the set so I got to join the other vocalist for a few songs being one of the few people who knew the lyrics and was already screaming the whole set.
Basically what I'm saying is don't fucking give up on your dreams. Surround yourself with those who want to see and help you to succeed in whatever it is you do and stop fucking judging other's, meet people where they are at and be the fucking change we all need and want in this world.
Backbone 519 - "Gouge" Ft Luke E ( @nihilusofficial )and Jamie ( @atrophy.hc ) LIVE at Primal Note Studios. North York, Ontario.
