Feathered, buzzy, green, and human. ✨ Thanks to everyone who joined the fun! We’re so happy we were able to be part of the celebration!
احتفلنا بجمال نيلنا في مهرجان النيل! 💚🌊 من مراقبة الطيور الصبح، للألعاب للمشي في جزيرة القرصاية – امبارح كان كله يوم جميل يذكرنا بكل أشكال الحياة اللي بيديها النيل حياة. طيور، نحل، نباتات، وناس! ✨ شكراً لكل اللي شاركنا اليوم والاحتفال ومبسوطين أوي اننا كنا جزء من الاحتفال!
Can you guess what our most observed species during the City Nature Challenge was? 🧐
For the first time ever, from the 24th to the 27th of April, residents of Cairo joined thousands of people worldwide and explored and documented the wild nature right in their backyards, balconies, and city streets. 💚

📍 In just 4 days, we had various adventures all over Cairo. We explored the Nile, Qursaya Island, Wadi Degla, and many more!
We recorded:
📱 1,608 observations
👁️ 73 observers
🌿 372 species
🔎 177 identifiers
🧫 607 research grade (38%!)
and finally, 22.0 observations per person!
This may be our first CNC, but it definitely won’t be the last, and we’re so excited to see its impact grow as the years pass. And of course, thanks to everyone who joined and explored with us! 🙏🏻

• الطيور
• الثدييات

• التصوير المقرب (الحشرات والكائنات الصغيرة)
• الحياة البحرية

الشروط والأحكام:
• يحق لكل مصور إرسال حد أقصى 5 صور، بما لا يزيد عن صورتين في المحور الواحد.
* مقاس الصور يجب ان يكون بأبعاد 50/70 بجودة لا تقل عن 250 dpi
* وحجمً الصورة لا يزيد عن ٥ ميجابايت
• سيتم قبول وعرض صورة واحدة فقط لكل مصور ضمن المعرض.
• يجب إرسال الصور بدون توقيع أو علامات مائية، حيث ستدخل جميع الأعمال في تحكيم المسابقة.
• لا يُسمح بإرسال صور لكائنات في الأسر، ويجب أن تكون جميع الصور لكائنات برية تم تسجيلها داخل جمهورية مصر العربية.
• للجنة التحكيم الحق في اختيار الصورة الأنسب من المحاور المرسلة وفقًا لرؤية اللجنة وتنوع محتوى المعرض.
• تحتفظ لجنة التنظيم بحق استبعاد أي صورة تحتوي على توقيع، أو مشاهد عنف، أو أي محتوى لا يتماشى مع المبادئ والقيم العامة، دون الرجوع لصاحب الصورة.
• يحق للجنة استبعاد أي صورة تحتوي على عناصر مضافة باستخدام الذكاء الاصطناعي، ويسمح فقط بالتعديلات الأساسية الخاصة بالإضاءة والألوان.
• الاشتراك متاح للمصريين المقيمين داخل مصر أو خارجها، بالإضافة إلى الأجانب المقيمين داخل مصر.
الاشتراك يبدأ من الآن
وأخر موعد قبل غلق الاشتراك هو يوم ١ من شهر يونيو

معايير التحكيم:
سيتم تقييم الأعمال بناءً على المعايير التالية:
1. قوة السرد البصري مدى نجاح الصورة في إيصال الفكرة والمشاعر دون الحاجة إلى شرح مطول.
2. الأصالة والإبداع تقديم رؤية جديدة أو زاوية مختلفة لموضوعات الحياة البرية.
3. الجهد المبذول القيمة الفنية أو الوثائقية للصورة ومدى صعوبة التقاطها.
4. الانطباع العام مدى احترافية الصورة وقدرتها على ترك أثر بصري يدوم في الذاكرة.
طريقة الاشتراك:
• يتم رفع حتى 5 صور بحد أقصى صورتين في المحور الواحد على الموقع الإلكتروني الخاص بالمعرض وهو s5.eawpeg.com
• ترسل الصور بالدقة المطلوبة
• في حالة قبول الأعمال للعرض، يتم تحويل مبلغ الاشتراك (٤٠٠) جنيه.تحويل بنكي (انستاباي )على الرقم: 01002215555
It’s World migratory bird day! Dia mundial de las aves migratorias! #globalbigday . So I’m showcasing a super special bird.
The Glossy Ibis might seem dark at first glance, but under the right lighting, its feathers explode into metallic greens, bronzes, and purples…pretty sure thats the reason behind the “glossy” in its name. I loved seeing many flocks of them all over the Nile, with their unmistakeable silhouette. Another species that I got to spot thanks to @daymaorg
That long curved bill and elegant profile immediately bring to mind Thoth, the ibis-headed god of wisdom, writing, and knowledge in ancient Egypt. Ibises were venerated along the Nile for centuries and became deeply tied to spirituality, ritual, and the divine world of the pharaohs…you can spot some pf them mummified at the Grand Egyptian Museum ✨

It was such an amazing adventure! 🌿🌼
In just a weekend, we had 2 offline iNaturalist sessions and 2 bioblitzes across different spots! The incredible community of 21 participants added over 206 observations to the map, spotting 73 different species across Port Said's gardens, wetlands, and urban habitats. We welcomed approximately 21 new users to the platform! 🌱
Huge thanks to everyone who joined and explored with us! And of course a huge thank you to our partners. Without them, this wouldn’t have been as enjoyable nor enriching 💚

Yesterday was super fun! We learned how to ID all the different insects and spiders especially when they have a little too much in common. 👀
And of course, it’s always nicer to learn when you have yummy snacks, preferably insect-shaped (or pizza. Pizza’s always enough). 🦋🍕
We’re so grateful for our immensely creative and dedicated community. Thank you @saifeldin_dovahkiin for the beautiful kingfisher that now lives on the Dayma Hive fridge along with its fellow earthlings (who are mostly made by @mohanad0__0 ). 💚

I don’t actually see what’s around me, I just pass by it.
But once you start looking.. it’s everywhere!
Funny thing is, I used to panic and call for help if I saw an insect.
Now it’s just an easy observation 😅
All of these were found during CNC and documented on @inaturalistorg
A small step to document biodiversity in Egypt,
A step closer to actually protecting it
With real data, not just assumptions.
Not rare,
Not far,
Just unnoticed.
None of these discoveries would’ve been possible without @daymajourneys
This weekend I was out sailing along the Nile with Dayma for a Cairo BioBlitz 🐦🌿. This was a reminder that even in the busiest cities, there’s so much nature to enjoy and to protect.
All creatures in this gallery, from the beautiful Pied Kingfisher covered by a gentle leaf, this colorful Squacco Heron (in breeding plumage), to the elegant Little Egret and a Grey Heron and Western cattle egret, both in flight… plus a curious Hooded Crow, a tiny Graceful prinia, and a lone Mallard tucked along the water’s edge, show you how every corner has something worth pausing for.
I’ve taken so many photos on this trip, but wanted to share this set now to encourage more of us to step outside and document what we see. Platforms like @inaturalistorg make it easy to register local species and contribute to real data—especially as a great complement to @team_ebird
You don’t need to go far. Just start looking 👀✨

Two days ago, Dayma had the privilege of introducing iNaturalist to the teachers of the Green Clubs in Technical Education. 🌿
The teachers weren’t just attentive—they were fully interactive the whole time. But what truly sparked their excitement was knowing their students will not only document what they observe in their own city, but also see what students their age—in the same clubs, across various technical education schools—are finding in completely different cities across Egypt. What animals, plants, reptiles and insects are they observing around them?
The teachers were excited about using the app with their students. They asked sharp questions. And they left ready to explore, observe, and share. 💚
A huge thank you to GIZ Egypt’s Employment Promotion Project, which is implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, for inviting Dayma to be part of this journey. And of course, thanks to Greenish for facilitating this in line with the Green Clubs in Technical Education project. We can’t wait to see what Egypt’s next generation of citizen scientists discovers! 🤩
أول أمبارح، دايمة قدمت جلسة تعريفية عن تطبيق iNaturalist لمعلمين النوادي الخضراء في مدارس التعليم الفني. 🌿
المعلمين مكانوش مركزين بس—لا، كانوا متفاعلين طول الوقت. بس الحاجة اللي حمستهم بجد، كانت إن طلابهم مش هيسجلوا بس اللي هيلاقوه في مدينتهم، لأ، هيعرفوا كمان طلاب في نفس سنهم—في نفس النوادي وبنفس التعليم الفني—بيعملوا رصد لإيه في مدن تانية خالص في مصر. ايه الحيوانات، والنباتات والزواحف والحشرات اللي بيلاحظوها حوليهم؟
المعلمين كانوا متحمسين إنهم يستخدموا التطبيق مع طلابهم. سألوا أسئلة ذكية. وختمنا الجلسة وهم جاهزين إنهم يستكشفوا، ويرصدوا، ويشاركوا. 💚

It’s a chance for everyone and anyone to become citizen scientists, connect with the outdoors, and help understand and protect nature around us!
All it takes is downloading the iNaturalist app and photographing any wild plants, animals, or insects they see during those four days. 🤳
You can join our team’s bioblitz activities or simply take part on your own, whatever works best. 💚🌿
