Birders around the world just did something historic. 🎉 For the first time ever, Global Big Day participants documented more than 8,000 bird species in a single 24-hour period, a new record for the event, and for the global birding community. And the numbers are still climbing as checklists continue to pour in! Thank you to every birder, in every country, who stepped outside, tuned in, and shared what you saw and heard. The final tally isn't locked in yet and you can still help raise the bar. If you birded on Global Big Day but haven't uploaded yet, please submit all of your eBird checklists by 13 May to make sure they're included in our final count. A full event recap, with species highlights, country-by-country breakdowns, and stories from the day, is on the way. Stay tuned! Until then: congrats, and thank you. You made this happen. Your favorite eBird Hotspot deserves a great About page. Here’s your opportunity to write it! New Hotspot About pages give every eBird Hotspot a dedicated space for local knowledge—birding tips, hours, accessibility details, and more. Content is community-sourced, so the more people who contribute, the more useful it becomes. eBird Hotspots have always been a resource to discover birds at a location. Now they can tell you more about the place, too! Tap the matching image in our bio to learn more. {Image Descriptions: Three scenic landscapes with sweeping vistas, water, and distant mountains. Superimposed on each is the eBird Hotspot About page for that location. The content sections are empty except for the prompt “Nothing added yet for this hotspot. Suggest Content”.}
