Talking to my #dog during the @scifilondon 48 Hour Film Challenge 2026.
It was a crazy two days planning, writing, shooting and editing this mad little comedy.
As stressed as I was trying to herd all the cats on the shoot (every single cat being me) I loved it. If at all possible, I'll be back next year to helm another one. If you're interested in getting involved, let me know.

The founder of Sci-fi London made my day when he very kindly emailed to say that they really enjoyed the film, and sadly it just didn't have enough "Sci-Fi" to be in the shortlist.
He was very encouraging about my participation next year. I can't wait.
I'm posting the film here exactly as it was when submitted; No adjustments - every rough edge remains unsanded.
Big thank you to @Lozzybonesart who drove by and gave her valuable time, while she was on her way to her much needed R&R break in Wales... We grabbed some quick shots to help center our story around her character. She did a cracking job as you can see. Pitch perfect delivery on the voice notes too.
For the challenge, each team is given a set of things they must include in their film. These were mine:
Title - 'APPROPRIATE RESPONSE'
Prop/action - A character pulls out a jumble of wires/chargers/cords from a small plastic box.
Dialogue - "Right. So. Nobody tell them what happened."
Science (optional) - Terrorists release genetically tailored viruses targetting 'race' from hacked national police DNA databases.

Things I want to do better next time:
- Sound. The audio was something I didn't check enough during production. It has peaks and skwn sounds don't tell the story as cleanly as I wanted
- grading. Time was if the essence, so I chose a look and stuck to it, spending all my time devoted to story over finesse.
- I'll add more as I remember them.

"I Found You"
A self contained script written as a test for a larger project, the focus again was on natural dialogue and letting the audience discern things about the characters organically.
I was immediately impressed when I saw the work @indigocollecott had done before. I knew she'd be as effortlessly natural as she ultimately was, in this scene.
This one of me just makes the grid symmetrical - but while you're here, hello! I have an idea - share one of these scenes with an actor, film maker or casting director you think would get something out of it. 🌟 I hope it entertains them or even inspires them to create something new.
@richardsrowden and I brainstormed a number of ideas before choosing this as our first little collaboration. I think it shows his unique, gentle charm and I hope casting directors see it and bring him in to read for them, sharpish! 🌟

I spent a day filming with my talented, very funny friend, @richardsrowden . 🎬
We met as Apple Store employees, moons ago, both writing and filming our own stories. This is the first time we've made something together and I hope we can do it again. 😌
