A glimpse into my work 'Noli me tangere', now on view at @museumst.afra in Augsburg as part of the special exhibition "Eine weiße Weste haben".
Special thanks to the curator, the entire museum team and my fellow makers for the trust, generosity and inspiring conversations surrounding this exhibition.
On view until June 28, 2026
The quiet persistence of things.
Over decades, ordinary objects absorb time, memory, and meaning, becoming silent, yet profound, witnesses. My work "An Inventory of Memory" is an approach to these surfaces that carry the gentle echo of daily life and the weight of their own existence.
In these objects, I recognize a portrait of belonging.
My intention is to use the interplay of image and matter to trace how the past resonates in physical form. The objects transform their purpose: they transcend their function to become profound keepers of absence and love.
This is not a search for answers or nostalgia, but an invitation to pause. A tribute to the immense emotional weight of what quietly remains with us.

“An Inventory of Memory” unfolds as a visual archaeology of a house once filled with life, now preserved only in fragments. Each photograph becomes both evidence and absence — a record of what remains when the traces of daily existence turn into silent witnesses. The work moves through rooms, objects, and surfaces like an archival investigation, cataloguing the material residue of memory. Dust, light, and wear become markers of time, while the systematic approach evokes museum inventories and forensic photography alike. The book reflects on how memory inhabits matter — how the simplest things, when seen with precision and care, can reveal entire worlds that have vanished but still insist on being remembered.

My Top Photo Books 2022 (Part 2)
Here is the second part of the photo books that left the biggest impression on me in 2022. Again, this list can never be complete, after all it only reflects my limited possibilities as a collector. Two of the selected books were officially published in 2021, but since I only received them in spring 2022, I definitely want to add them to this list. I have also deliberately chosen some books that were only published in the last few weeks of the past year; in my opinion, these have too rarely found their way into other lists due to their publication date. Furthermore, I have focused on books that give me a deeper insight into the working methods and understanding of photographers I have been looking up to for a long time.
Since I do not want to conclude my findings on the photographic printed matter of 2022 with the start of a new year, there will in all likelihood be further posts on one or the other work from 2022.

My Top Photo Books of 2022 (Part 1)
Once again, a list that has often been found in the various social media over the past few weeks.
My list of selected books can only reflect my own small opinion, which is also influenced by the rarity of certain publications, a limited budget, my preference for certain visual languages and photographic techniques, as well as my still growing knowledge of the photobook medium and its history, but first and foremost I want to record my impressions of the past year. 2023 will again bring its surprises and will be a year full of great books, accordingly there will be many reasons for me to look differently, from a new angle, at the most beautiful way photography can be presented.
All the best for the coming year 2023!
