Spectres Vs Vectors?
Thee Wyld Horde are not Thee Wyld Horde.
A bold attempt, but it proved to be a guise beyond their reach.
Thee Wyld Horde were a spectral, airborne, screeching terror. With a penchant for sucking out goodly folk through the keyholes of their doors and flinging them into oblivion.
The troupe could only pass as a sympathetic forging of Fasnacht carnival actors. Or perhaps an amalgam of random wandering players. A lost chorus. They ran the gauntlet while shifting through Mitteleuropa. Revelling in coded and subversive digs at the mores of any given authoritarian elite.
Shambolic pranksters, prone to slapstick and irreverent acts.
They chased across vast territories in the wake of apparitions that had drawn their attention. Until the apparitions halted, took form and turned on them…

Song To The Siren is an offsite project by @50__mv presented @36___gallery
The exhibition brings together sculptures, free standing panel works and paintings. Straddling past and present, their work originates from 1970’s CGI animations, found objects, modern and ancient art history.
@50__mv is an artist run space based in Liverpool.
Just landed a self published, short run of books related to the recent ‘Cyborg Insects / Sargasso’ works. Many thanks to @sarahedithjames for the text and @mikesstudio for the design (both absolute diamonds).

Third painting in the series. The Data Vis in this work is from a type used in measuring fossil fuel extraction.

‘Thee Wyld Horde Vs The Data Visualisations’
Graphite on paper. 2025
Much re-jigged sketch for the upcoming third ‘Wyld Horde’ painting. Here the Daemons struggle with wildly animised data visualisations / info-graphics representing Oil & Gas extraction.
Also posting some details of the paint rendering from the first two paintings.
The compositions are staged for a mythical / speculative non-place beyond the ‘liminal’ - a return to that ‘here be monsters’ area of ancient cartographies or a projection into some future ‘end of the world’ scenario. The scenes are encased in a dense fog / miasma, underfoot is a degrading permafrost.

Recent work; ‘The Cyborg Insects and the Sargasso. The Sargassum and the Entrepreneur’ can be seen in its entirety as a Tableau Vivant. Though one small active element involves a looped video on an I-pad.
The aspirant proprietor of a ‘Carbon Capture Storage’ start-up. Locked into a screen. R.E.M sleep, out of sync eyes, rolling away…

Liverpool based Artist David Jacques is showing a body of recent work at the Bridewell Gallery titled ‘The Cyborg Insects and the Sargasso. The Sargassum and the Entrepreneur’.
Comprising of 24 collaged panels, a looped video and text, the work builds upon the surreal, mythologically infused narratives evidenced in his previous multi-media projects (‘Oil is the Devil’s excrement’, ‘Beaufort sea Phantasmagoric’) and continues his ongoing critical engagement with Climate crisis issues.
