Yesterday’s 46th Annual City of Plantation Mayor’s Interfaith Prayer Breakfast was truly a beautiful and inspiring morning.
Thank you to Mayor Nick Sortal, the members of the City of Plantation, and the entire Plantation Interfaith Association of Clergy for bringing the community together in such a meaningful way.
A special proclamation was presented declaring Tuesday, May 5, 2026 as “Interfaith Prayer Day.”
The American Heritage High School Choir was absolutely fantastic, opening and closing the ceremony with beautiful performances, along with a moving presentation of the flag and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Opening prayer was led by Dr. Brenda Bannister, followed by welcoming remarks and introductions of the Mayor and City officials. There was also a heartfelt announcement honoring the retirement of Reverend Dr. Marta Burke.
This year’s theme, “Building Up One Another in Love,” could truly be felt throughout the entire room. The message of unity, faith, kindness, and community was powerful and uplifting.
Grateful to have experienced such a wonderful morning surrounded by so many caring and inspiring people. 🙏

Gratitude, happiness, laughter, and a lot of love were the main feelings of the day.
For 46 years, this beautiful breakfast has brought the @cityofplantation community together, and now we are the stewards of this incredible tradition.
There were clergy from 12 different churches and synagogues throughout Plantation — reverends, rabbis, cantors, fathers, and bishops — all coming together in unity. Through songs, stories, prayers, and heartfelt moments, they treated us to a truly magical morning.
The proclamation by Mayor @nicksortal recognizing Tuesday, May 5, 2026 as Interfaith Prayer Day made the occasion even more meaningful.
