The Fanning Files: Bowie
Radio 1, Sundays 7pm
10 years ago, January 10th 2016, David Bowie - the definitive solo artist of the 70s and beyond - passed away
His restless spirit, sexual ambivalence, effortless cool and unwillingness to settle into any one image or style of music not only inspired thousands of young musicians but also resulted in a barrowload of brilliant albums.
Over three hours, we’ll pull from 6 interviews I did with Bowie down through the years, and we’ll hear bits from his collaborators and those who knew him - from Tony Visconti to Noel Gallagher, Gail Ann Dorsey to Woody Woodmansey, Lulu to Gary Numan, amongst others.
Three hours, over the next three Sundays, starting tonight at 7pm.
The Fanning Files: The Cranberries - part one Christmas Day, part two Stephen’s Day, 7pm Radio 1

All four members telling the story of one of the biggest Irish music acts of all time.
Opening and closing this week’s show, with two tracks from his second solo album, For Cryin’ Out Loud! - @finneas
I’d be here all day if I was to list his accomplishments, so I’ll just mention the most important one - he is the nicest, most genuine guy you’ll ever meet.
Talking to the legend Mike Scott on the show tonight, all about the latest Waterboys album - Life, Death and Dennis Hopper. And…their upcoming album of unreleased songs from the Fisherman’s Blues sessions nearly 40 years ago.
Tonight 11pm on Virgin.
