A note on ‘Be Brave and Believe’
In the fifteen years since its release I’ve received many lovely messages from people who’ve shared with me that through battles with illness, a bereavement, or some great trial, this song has been a source of strength, hope, or courage to keep going.
When it first came out, unknown to me then, David Morris was a young filmmaker from Dublin who offered to make a vid for it on a shoestring budget, to help it reach more people. My team embraced his generosity.
David recently shared with me that his sister, and best friend, Debbie, is fighting an aggressive Brain Tumour - a Grade 4 Glioblastoma - and the cost of life-extending treatment poses a significant challenge.
If this song has ever brought you any solace, I humbly suggest you might consider donating to the fundraiser that will help David’s sister receive the treatment she badly needs.

Concerning depth, the breadth of time, sentiment, attachment, loss, reassurance, and light.
Declan O’Rourke’s eighth studio record , OCEANIC, is an offering shaped not only by place, but by time, memory, and return. Recorded in Sydney, the album carries a particular resonance, drawing a line between where Declan first began and where he now stands as an artist.
Oceanic was recorded with longtime friend and collaborator Jim Moginie (Midnight Oil) at the helm as co-producer. The broad scope of musical sensibilities and a twenty year history brought trust and creative freedom to the process. The result is a mature record that feels expansive and dynamic — moving fluidly from groove driven meditations, to reflections of sweeping, cinematic scope. The content itself represents a life spanning two continents and hemispheres, and the ocean of feeling between that endures within the artist. Alongside contemporary themes, on the tides and swells of memory, songs shift from nostalgia for what was, to those displaying growth from seeds long sewn in the past.
To celebrate the release, Declan will embark on a nationwide tour across Ireland this autumn, bringing Oceanic to audiences in some of the country’s most iconic venues.
Oceanic will be released Friday 16th October, 2026. Tickets on sale Friday, 10th April. For more information visit: clanorourke.com (link in bio).

Yes, they may be expecting a break in the weather. But be not dissuaded people, music lovers, ticket holders, and potential concert goers of Perth, Fremantle, WA, or wherever you’re rolling in from. The @fremantlefenians team have a beautiful auditorium on hold nearby as back up, also with a grand piano.
There will be song, there will be love, there will be stars, if even only those I sing of as I pour them into your ears.
We may still be out under the blue stars of the @quarryamphitheatre yet of course. But either way, as Frank says, “I’m gonna love you baby, rain or shine !’
Great song and record by the way.
@fionareamusic my special guest will be there too !
Ps - I write to you, miraculously, from mid air!

This day week I fly to Perth to play a concert at The Quarry Amphitheater, Sat March 28th, under the stars!
I flew there in Jan 2018 to honour the beginning of this story, with ‘Convict Ways’ commemorating the last ever convict ship to arrive in Australia, 150 years before, This time, while I will sing a bit of everything, of course, we honour the final thrilling chapter in this tale, the Catalpa Escape! Incredible story.

PS - Happy St Patrick’s Day ☘️💚

Up in Belfast tonight for a TV special concert celebrating 180 years of Queens University. 1. Met this dear old friend inside who admired my T and asked for one with Italian writing. 2. Reunited with David Brophy, conducting the Ulster Orchestra. It’s been too long since our epic run of Valentine’s Day concerts. 3. Blue shirt? Doesn’t sound right. 4. Ivory? Yes. Better! 5. Another old head / friend, from days with RTÉ CO, Fergal Durnin. That’s a hatrick! Lovely night. Watch for the broadcast in wks to come 💥

Mary Coughlan, Frances Black, Declan O’Rourke plus a very special guest come together for a special night of music to help legendary Irish guitarist @jimmysmyth They’ll also be joined by musicians Alan Connor, Gerry O’Connor, Richie Buckley, John McLoughlin and more.
Recently, unprecedented rainfall caused the River Aughrim to burst its banks and badly flooded Jimmy’s home. Everything on the ground floor was completely destroyed...Adding to the nightmare, insurance couldn’t come to the rescue as Jimmy’s home was uninsured due to its proximity to the river. To make matters worse, not just one but both family cars were also completely destroyed by the flooding. Insurance will only possibly cover a minimal amount for one of the cars. On top of everything mentioned above there is also the huge added cost of preventing this unimaginable situation from happening again. This is expected to run into thousands of euro...
Understandably Jimmy is just not in a position financially to tackle the mammoth task of restoring everything as it was before the flooding for himself and his family. Please give whatever you can to help Jimmy & his family get back on their feet again.
