MINISH CAP 🔍
As I’m getting ready to table at @thoughtbubblefestival in a couple weeks, I figure it’s time to post some of the stuff I’ll have available as prints!
I’d worked on this piece on and off as a study for about a year, and I’m pretty thrilled with how it’s turned out! Lots of inspiration from @eiffelart for how he does beautiful studies with video game characters incorporated.
I’m super stoked to properly reveal the illustration I created for @press_peregrine ’s Filmmakers Without Cameras Trilogy!
This piece sits alongside @eurothug4000 ’s wonderful trip into Hub Worlds within video games, and the comfort and familiarity they bring.
I spent far too long on this, but I resonated with the topic so much, that I just had to throw everything I had into it. I hope you enjoy some of the little details here and there 🍃 Let me know if you can name any of the worlds! 🔍
If you’d like to preorder a copy of FWC and support all the amazing creators who contributed, just head on over to @press_peregrine ’s Instagram store 🧡
🐉✨SPIRITED.
After about a month on and off, I finished this silly A5 piece in Posca 😂 I think it’s safe to say that I don’t plan on doing anything as detailed for a LONG time, but it was a (mostly) fun exercise in studying the ridiculous detail of Ghibli.
As someone who usually works with limited-colour palettes, eventually using 38(!!) unique colours (including some of the new Deep Colours 🌝), was a bit wild.
Swipe ➡️ to see some progress shots, and the fistful of colours that I /didn’t/ end up using, ha!
I’ve been working on a bigger Zelda piece, since the lovely folks at @rhodianotebooks kindly sent me nice big A4 notebook to try out! I love big illustrations with lots of characters, so it seemed like a great opportunity to give the Ocarina of Time bosses (and Link!) some space to breathe in such a tense moment 😨
(That said, a bigger notebook means more planning, so I’m still in the work in progress stages here 😅)
It’s also National Stationery Week (shout out to @natstatweek )! At a time where the digital art space is being overwhelmed by AI copycats – it feels very personal and fulfilling to create something unique with traditional mediums.
I’m also trying to rely more on the physical mediums I have for reference, which means I get to break out my original copy of OoT on the N64, along with the Japanese copy I picked up in Kamakura 🥹 Also, go read the Akira Himekawa manga versions!

I’m so thrilled to share my entry for this year’s @famicase_meteor exhibition at @super_meteor !
-
My game is titled 鏡 & U (Kagami & U) – 鏡 being the Japanese word for “mirror”. The game blurb is as follows:
“You’ve returned home for the summer, but something feels very wrong. In every mirror you look, there are signs of an ominous presence lurking behind you! Explore the neighbourhood and unravel the mystery of the strange figure in your reflection... before the summer ends!“
-
My game’s concept was inspired by my trips to Japan, and the many, many traffic mirrors I saw everywhere around the neighbourhoods. I liked the idea of retracing steps around a place that once felt familiar, and using the mirrors to convey an element of mystery and intrigue.
-
The exhibition runs until the 31st of May, so if you’re in Tokyo during that time, consider checking it out. Many thanks to the folks at Super Meteor for accepting my entry! ありがとございます!
Just me and some of my favourite Pokémon ✨
Oof, I started this back in September, but I hit a bit of a roadblock and couldn’t figure out the background colours! Thankfully creating a new swatch chart helped me to solve that issue and I finished this up yesterday.
Also the lovely folks at @rhodianotebooks were super kind enough to send me a bunch of notebooks! What a treat!
More unfinished pieces! This time of an absolutely unreal curry soup from @bakumatsucurry . My heart longs for its richness and the incredible texture of the fried vegetables (which is saying something, since I don’t normally care for mushrooms).
Painted using @nicker_colour poster paint. I’ll finish this someday!
Another piece I started working on, but I haven’t figured out how to finish 😅
I started this Posca drawing of a taxi in Yokohama at another @sketchandcafe session, but I kind of like the negative space around it too… 🤔
Swipe to see the original photo!
I have a bunch of finished (and unfinished) pieces waiting to make their way out of my stories, so I’m just going to post a mix of both so my profile looks a little more active 😅
I started this Goron Link a few years ago, but never got around to finishing him off. I’ve been experimenting with Posca markers over an underpainting, and I’m glad I decided to turn that experiment to this particular piece. I’m chuffed with how he turned out!
Now I have a question… which is the best out of the three main transformations in Majora’s Mask? 👀
This originally started out as a “games I’m playing lately” page but there was a gap at the bottom and I didn’t feel like trying to draw a vehicle + driver from Mario Kart 💀 so a majestic Mega Dragonite it is instead!
Finally got my act together and finished this piece I’ve been sitting on for months, just to prove to myself that I can still be an illustrator sometimes 😅
Something a little Oracle of Seasons oriented – I liked the idea of Link being in full colour and standing out against the backdrop of other characters. I’m glad it all paid off in the end!
