'Haunted ' is the fourth song from the ‘Sampler’ EP', and by far the most unsettling, and widely heard as well. While ‘Haunted’ sounds a bit ghost-like as a title, that is not what songwriter Trevor Faville had in mind ; "I had been reading interviews with folks who had what was known as Schizophrenia, and I worked some of their experiences into imagining what it might be like to be looking out at the world like that- what the whole experience might be like, really to help me my head around it as I had interacted with some folks dealing with that when I was younger and working in hospitals” This was also a chance to explore movie style soundscapes ,and a chance encounter in the early internet days found the ‘The Guides will help you’ sample- which is an alleged EVP or ‘ghost voice’. ‘Haunted ‘ had the regular crew of Bevan Galbraith( bass) and Grant Blackler ( guitar), with Sehai Orgad singing on her last track for DateMonthYear. Dan Howard handled the production. ‘Haunted’ got itself licensed around the world in myriad TV , Movie and documentary opportunities including the History Channel and shows like ‘Wild Planet’ Again, it has been remastered and reissued on all streaming platforms for your listening pleasure. #datemonthyear #haunted #newzealand #indie #sync

Lovesafety ' is the third song from the ‘Sampler’ EP' , following on from ‘Crash’ and ‘InsideOut’ - hope you are all keeping up! ‘Lovesafety’ is something of a more cynically melancholic exploration of dysfunctional relationships. Faville says "dysfunctional relationships are a pretty standard topic for songwriters, and I find traditional love songs to be something of a dead end for me anyway, so I enjoyed writing this somewhat twisted take on the whole subject I really like the repetition of the last line’ everything crumbles eventually’, it's so deliciously bleak!” The whole EP was produced by Dan Howard at Click Sound studios, 'Lovesafety’ used the same drum-and-vocal combo of Trevor Faville and Sehai Orgad, plus two experienced musicians in the form of Bevan Galbraith( bass) and Grant Blackler ( guitar) Again, it has been remastered and reissued on all streaming platforms for your listening pleasure. Thanks, as always, for listening - see you next week for the final instalment! #datemonthyear #newzealand🇳🇿 #nzindependentmusic

'InsideOut 'was the second song from the ‘Sampler’ EP' , of which ‘Crash’(last week's reissue)was the opener. The mood for this one is more introspective, with a lyrical approach exploring the trials and tribulations of growing up. Songwriter Trevor Faville-being a bit more effusive this time- says; “I was happy with the main lyric with this, with the description of growing up as being “Closer to the surface, fighting for air, working on the Inside out” its about becoming the person you want to be, but also that to get there will take effort’ Produced by Dan Howard at Click Sound studios, 'InsideOut' used a more subtle instrumentation of percussion, acoustic guitar and 808 drum machine(!) framing a vocal from Sehai Orgad Again, it has been remastered and reissued on all streaming platforms for your listening pleasure. Check the comments for the landing page- the link will allow you to select the streaming platform of your choice. Thanks, as always, for listening - see you next week! #datemonthyear #newzealand🇳🇿 #newzealandmusic #insideout

'Crash' was the very first recorded DateMonthYear song, and has been remastered and reissued on all streaming platforms for your listening pleasure. In typical terse style, writer Trevor Faville describes it thus; "its a song about dumb people doing stupid things" Produced by Dan Howard at Hamilton, New Zealand's much missed Click Sound studios, 'Crash' subscribes to the 'more cowbell' concept at the intro before piling into a typically DateMonthYear disturbing chorus lyric. Check the comments for the landing page- the link will allow you to select the streaming platform of your choice. and while you are there, please comment if you have a preferred streaming platform, and the landing page can be edited for your ease of access. another reissue next week! #datemonthyear #newzealand #newzealandmusic #indieartist
