The last 2026 Artist preview for Echo(logies) is here: âUrban Data Orchestra: Composing the Hidden Rhythms of the City"
"Urban Data Orchestra" explores how overlooked temporal layers form the sensory fabric of urban life. Using NYC Tree Census and SONYC soundscape data, it transforms over 18,000 sound events into an interactive instrument. Visitors compose sensory experiences by filtering between overlapping ecologiesâbirdsong, wind, mechanical noiseârevealing how human and non-human rhythms synchronize across seasons.
Artists: Elina Oikonomaki & Lukas Lesina Debiasi
We're almost there! Can't wait to see you all next week. We are continuing our 2026 Artist preview for Echo(logies) with: âLandscape Workshop"
"Landscape Workshop" invites the public to experience the varied ways landscape architects use data to study, draw, and ultimately produce spaces of ecological diversity within New York Cityâs urban forest. Through digital and analog components, the installation mirrors the hybrid practice of landscape architecture: drawing with pencil and mouse, registering through data and sensory experience.
Artists: Mark Heller & Mariel Collard Arias

We are continuing our 2026 Artist preview for Echo(logies) with: âTurnstile Murmurationsâ
"Turnstile Murmurations" transforms New York City infrastructure into a responsive light sculpture. The work reclaims a turnstile âreplacing mechanical rotation with illumination, resulting in a luminous tracing of the cityâs circadian rhythm, mirroring our collective cycles of congestion and calm.

With less than three weeks away from the exhibition, here's our next 2026 Artist preview for Echo(logies): âHartLineâ
"HartLine" explores Hart Island, NYCâs public burial ground. For over 150 years, the island has been reshaped by tides, weather, and the burial of more than one million unclaimed dead. The project presents a semi-controlled aqueous installation where metal, saline water, sediment, vegetation, and projection register cycles of decay and regrowth, engaging the cityâs past and future in the liminal space where civic and sacred converge.
Artists: Ian Callender & Karla Rothstein
