What does it really take to make the right call when everything is on the line?
Last week at @datadecodedhq London, @ruthbuscombe gave insights into the world of Formula 1 strategy, where over a million data points are generated every second, but races are decided by people.
Drawing on her experience on the pit wall, Ruth brings to life how elite teams turn complex data and AI-driven insights into clear, decisive action in real time. Through real race examples, she showed how teams cut through the noise, focus on what truly matters and make critical decisions under pressure.
Thank you to all involved for delivering such a fantastic event 👏
AI is moving faster than leadership understanding can keep up with 🤯
46% of tech professionals surveyed by Harvey Nash say their leaders don't truly grasp AI, and at Data Decoded in London, that's the kind of conversation people are showing up to have. Even through a tube strike. 🚇
The learning curve is real. The urgency is real. Are your leaders keeping pace?

The VIRAL F1 Python Project made it to the keynote stage. 🏎️
Yesterday I spoke at @datadecodedhq with @techwithmatheus
“Telling a story using motorsport data”. That was the focus of my time on stage.
As a fan, you don’t really see it, but an F1 car is generating huge volumes of data every second...
and on its own, that means nothing.
But when you start digging into it, you can find some pretty amazing insights. Things like:
- where a driver actually gains time
- how braking style changes a lap
- why two cars that look identical… aren’t
And what I love is that this data has been made publicly available!
Sure its not all of the data that engineers have access to, but its enough to enable F1-loving programmers like me to build projects that the community loves.
Thank you to everyone that sat down to watch the session, thank you to Data Decoded for putting on an awesome event, and thank you to Matheus for putting me forward for the opportunity!
Looking forward to the next one! 🙏
AI isn’t failing because of the tech.
It’s failing because of people.
I'll be speaking at Data Decoded LDN,
tackling the real barrier to transformation: human behaviour.
Session Title:
Why Their Brains Hate New Tech (and What to Do About It)
We'll explore:
👉 Why teams resist new tech
👉 Why adoption stalls
👉 And what actually works

I've done over 27,000 steps.
I'm longing for my comfy Ugg boots.
Data Decoded MCR wrapped up last week.
But heart is still thrumming
from the feel-good emotions
flowing through my system.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝘁:
When we connect with others
Our brains release a cocktail of chemicals:
🍹Oxytocin from meaningful conversations
🍹Endorphins from shared moments
🍹Dopamine from new connections
🍹Serotonin from belonging
Each handshake.
Each eye contact moment.
Each "aha" during the sessions.
All firing up our reward circuits.
Our mirror neurons help us feel
what others are experiencing.
We're literally wired for connection.
This is why we gather.
Not just for the content.
But for the human moments.
The bonds we build.
The energy exchange.
The collective learning.
𝘞𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 - 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳.
Yes.. my brain & body is tired.
But my heart is full,
and deeply grateful.

The skills crisis won’t wait.
DM me to close the skills gap - before it widens:
- Embed Data & AI fluency into daily workflows
- Hardwire new habits, not just host one-off trainings
- Equip your people with Power Skills to adapt, lead & deliver
Don’t train for yesterday. Build for what’s next.
Just over a week ago I attended @datadecodedhq with our new Marketing & Business Development Lead, Tom Beresford.
It was an amazing two days hearing and networking with the best and brightest minds in the data and AI world.
A stand-out for me was that ethics, inclusive data practice and governance was evident in almost all the talks I attended across both days, signalling the direction of travel industries are continuing to head in.
What was in the past treated as secondary, specifically inclusive data practice, is now positioned at the heart of data and AI strategies.
This is exactly why I launched #TheDataAlly, up-skilling forward-thinking businesses to shift away from data-as-usual and instead embed a social justice mindset across the entire data lifecycle - a change that’s even more vital for organisations that want to take advantage of AI with their people in mind.
I loved getting to meet so many new people in the industry across the two days and at the afterparty!
Excited for next year’s event already! Hopefully ‘visitor’ becomes ‘speaker’ 👀🙇🏽♀️

Here’s your reminder that being good at what you do isn’t enough anymore.
You can be competent, but if no one knows your name or your work, it goes unnoticed.
Decide today to start showing up louder, prouder and more intentionally because your story needs to be heard.
