A driving force of the 90s techno scene in Germany, Ingmar Koch boasts an impressive discography, starting out in 1991 with a debut release on his Structure imprint, a precursor to the prolific Kompakt label co-founded with Wolfgang Voigt in 1998. A relentless output of material that helped craft the ‘Sound of Cologne’ followed under at least 50 aliases on numerous solo releases and compilations, including standout collaborations with partner Cem Oral (Khan) in the quintessential duos Air Liquide and Jammin’ Unit, Holger Czukay, Freddy Fresh, and Mike Ink (W. Voigt), to name but a few. Using these processed fragments as raw material, Bilek employs his self-programmed musical environment to collage and assemble his findings, creating a coherent “Indiescape” that bridges urban field recordings and contemporary musical forms. Palestinian-British dj/producer @yajiyuso closes the night on the ones and twos. “In the early 2000s, Yajiyuso (Omar) began collecting and digging in London’s then plentiful record stores: (Eukatech, Swag, Sounds of the Universe, Honest Jon’s, Blackmarket, Berwick St, etc). The start of an obsessive and passionate relationship with vinyl. First gigs from 2003 onwards were in East London warehouse parties, as well as other smaller venues. Later, when living and working beyond Europe, Omar held residencies at Dubai’s “Analog Room” from 2015-2017 and “Savage” in Hanoi between 2017/2018, as well as playing in Hong Kong and mini-festivals in and around Hanoi. In 2017, Omar set up a vinyl only label “Indigenous Electronic”, which has had 4 releases to date, and plays by some of the most discerning and quality underground vinyl DJs in the scene. The focus of the label - (covering the full spectrum, but never to veer away from dance-floor, analogue sounds) – aims to showcase both known, underrated and undiscovered talent particularly from spaces where producers might have less exposure to the industry. SAB 19.10.24 22H  GRUTH presents NOEMATA (FI) DE GAER [live] (BE) ROKO [dj] (BALA, Sicily) Rooted in the Nordic darkness of metal, industrial and classical music with extensive immersion into sound system culture, Gruth is an electroacoustic music project of Juha Puuperä. Drawing influence from various different musical cultures, practices and genres, the Gruth sound has evolved from forward-thinking techno, ritual ambient and doom-industrial into long-form “sound paintings”, meticulously arranged and improvised long takes forged into slowly evolving layers of sound. Noemata is Gruth’s next album awaiting physical release later this year. Written during Puuperä’s years in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil, the LP comprises two 25-minute long drone pieces, ”Noema I” and “Noema II”, incorporating elements of post-industrial, kraut rock, doom metal, dark ambient, field recording, dub and jazz. The second piece features soprano saxophone improvisations by Alberto Iannuzzi. Music intended for sleeping or meditation, the album showcase at Desterro will not take the form of a performance but rather a stereo playback of the mastered pieces for a lying down/sitting audience in pitch black darkness. —————— De Gaer began in 2014, after years of immersion in the club scene, performing DJ sets at legendary venues such as Fabric and Public Life in London, and holding a residency at Fuse Brussels in his native Belgium. Now based in Lisbon, he has refined his sound, drawing inspiration from electronic, ambient, post-punk, and experimental music.
