Sorcha (Sarah) Dawson

another CAST ANNOUNCEMENT!!!! Sorcha Dawson is a female actor and writer hailing from Cork. She trained with London School of Dramatic Art and Bow Street Academy Dublin. As a founding member of MEELAGOOLA sketch comedy, Sorcha has brought multiple shows to Scene+Heard, Electric Picnic and Edinburgh Fringe Festival since 2018. She has featured in filming for Enda Walsh’s SAFE HOUSE in the Abbey Theatre and in Femme Fatale by Ian Brew, which was voted DICFF’s Best Irish Sketch 2024. She will appear as Chloe in Love Lane United, a feature by Jack Thornton, due for general release this year. ‘Sorry that happened to you’, Sorcha’s first solo writing project debuted at S+H2025 and is currently in development. HIBERNIA 2.0 is a bilingual comedy set in a future Irish dystopia! Hello! I'm super excited to be bringing my own new bilingual work to stage in @sceneandheardfestivalofnewwork HIBBERNIA 2.0 , it's set in a bizzare dystopian future floating city Ireland, and it follows Saoirse (@daswonsa ) navigating a world of diva TV stars, dodgy politicians and Gaeilgeoir robots! It's been a month since we had the pleasure of presenting 'Sorry that happened to you' as part of @sceneandheardfestivalofnewwork It's also been a month since I was officially knighted as the keeper of the flowers (see ceremony above) I feel as though I am only recalibrating as I write this post. It takes a while to process the putting on of one's play, especially when it's about one's rape (trauma is fun). I am so grateful to have had an amazing team by my side through all the deadlines, tears, rehearsals, cuts, changes, laughter and magic. All your efforts and support allowed me to stand in my power and tackle what was the most terrifying yet empowering thing I've ever done. Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket (and sold us out eeek!), shared it on socials or sent a lovely message, it meant the world ❤️ I have been blown away by the response to the show and all the feedback we have received. This is an extremely important piece to me both artistically and personally. I am so touched to see that it has resonated with people and started conversations. This is not the last you'll be hearing from us, good sir, gosh, this is is just the beginning I tell you!
