I remember when a client wanted to license one of my works but specifically asked for as little mold as possible. I was completely baffled at the time, but it taught me the value of adaptability and creative problem-solving! Innovative, safe, challenging and made to inspire. Got questions? Let’s talk! 🔬✨

Hi! My name is Dasha Plesen. I create living artworks using a unique technique of artistic microbial cultivation. I visualize air, bodies, memories and spaces through bacteria and mold — capturing what’s usually invisible. My work has been shown at international exhibitions, featured in Vogue and La Recherche, and collected worldwide. I’ve collaborated with biotech companies to grow art that exists between science, emotion and decay. 🧫 Want to own one? Join my private collectors club — waitlist in bio.

I am disgusting. I know. But… ⠀ Now, 300,000 people tune in every week to watch me, a little orphan spore that smelled weird, walk for Vogue, appear on Northwave boards, and even end up inside a bank. ⠀ I guess my Beauty was never built on approval. It’s always been there - sometimes it just needs someone who refuses to bleach it out.

This can be done for people, events, pets, or even vintage objects carrying years of dust. Using their unique microbiome, a new artwork or object is created - a kind of rebirth through biological traces. Would you like to see your invisible microbiome become visible?🧫🧚🏼🦄🍄🧫

An inhuman agent, a new Venus feeding mushroom milk, wilting to be reborn. Or will she stay like this forever? My reflection on the topic of maternal instinct dysfunction in the digital age, as well as emotional starvation and new versions of corporeality, which have yet to be met. An exact copy of the mammary glands, a special nutrient medium, microorganisms transplanted from the surface of the body and from the environment, pigments, additional elements, 4-12 days of cultivation, room temperature, high humidity. ⠀ Would you ever try that milk?

I create disgusting art with my bare hands. Tweezers, spores, strange beauty in the underbelly of what everyone wants to bleach. There’s something about watching mold pulled apart that makes people confess-some squirm, others admit it’s weirdly satisfying, like popping a pimple or slicing cake. You know what I think? Every person, every object, holds an invisible layer of microscopic spores-making the invisible visible is my art. I use your favorite colors, nurture absence until it grows, and capture it in a bio-portrait: a biological time capsule, high-res scan, or hand-finished capsule for you to print, keep, or just know exists. It’s freedom: you decide what to do with your own hidden universe. So, let’s settle it-why can’t you stop watching this? Drop your theory below🖖🏻🧫🧚🏼🍄🔥

I’ve never been to Nepal, but somehow it feels like I already know how it smells, what its palettes and colors look like - the spicy, cool air, the dense sound of chanting, the blinding blue sky, and this sense of mystery literally floating in the atmosphere. ⠀ Together with @crayonartel , we’re preparing something truly incredible. Stay tuned for updates. And yes, of course I can’t wait to tell you the whole idea already… but let’s stretch the pleasure a little longer 😏🖖🏻🌍🙏🏻🌱

You don’t have to bleach everything that grows - sometimes you just need someone to show you the beauty you never looked for. And if you want to see your hidden layer, I can scoop up your invisible spores and turn them into a permanent bio-portrait - your own time capsule of existence. And this experience is a true magic - join my waitlist in bio to own 🤯🧫🎨❤️

@dashaplesen for @offfest x @uncommon.creative.studio , presenting Cultured — a living identity, grown rather than designed. For OFFF 2026, Uncommon turned the creative community into the medium itself — collecting traces, fibres, fragments of presence, and translating them into a visual system that quite literally carries people inside it. Here comes the mold queen — Dasha Plesen. Swipe to step into her process and see what goes into creating artwork using artistic microbial cultivation. #neutanet #dashaplesen #offfest #culturedidentity #creativeprocess
