Found a real boss bitch with @darkartaudio on beautiful, sunny February day. We both got to witness this fish confidently swim out of a log jam and engulf the fly after a few strips. Once we realized that an apex musky had actually made a mistake, all hell broke loose. Repeated strip sets to ensure that the fish was pinned and an epic battle ended in Mikey scooping this fish and us both letting out some guttural screams. This is what it’s all about, and seeing her swim away to go make more future monsters was the icing on the cake. Still in disbelief that this encounter happened and am honored to have laid hands on a prespawn river fish of this caliber alongside my musky partner in crime @darkartaudio . Throwing it back to an epic musky season. @darkartaudio stuck a giant and many other big ones left us with night terrors and what ifs. All in all, being out there with your buddies in the moment just makes boating fish a bonus. We stop chasing these fish in late March to ensure an unpressured spawn and move on to other finned opponents. Carpe diem: especially when this phenomenon will only occur about every 13 years. The boys put a hurting on these traditionally spooky, elusive fish. They don’t act this dumb often and to see them, cast at em and watch em boogle eye cicada flies only to delicately sip them like a trout was super cool and fun. They get quite large too. From broken rods to bent out hooks, just gotta go have fun out there !!

On August 15th we said goodbye to Oz, to my knowledge the greatest studio cat to ever live. His body heat and tooth marks enhanced many a recording session. Whatever he was doing, whether loving or fighting (often times both), he was doing it hard. There will never be another like him.
