Would you join fellow creatives here? Evening + Night is Sleepwalker, which is trance-like somber vibes outdoors. Think sleepwear outside, inspired by mystery and alien abduction. Creative camp out (or off individually) Morning is Dirt. Think 1940s looks great n the early morning soil. Also somber, a little mysterious. Create some concepts that could vibe with this and join us on location July 10th/11th about 20 minutes out of Molalla, Oregon. We’re based out of Portland, and hoping to see a lot of our friends from Eugene all the way up toward Seattle. I’m really excited to see you there and in the earlier event on the coast! Guess what? Time to sign up (for free) for not 1, not 2, but technically 3 camera-centric, community powered productions! I mean “technically” because the second is called a “Double Darchive”, or otherwise back-to-back themed community photoshoots which will sandwich a campout. A bold first for us! So, that’s 3 themes in total for photographers, models, mua, costume, and all forms of creatives to come together. It’s a crazy world. Build your community, have conversations, and go shooting. Cameras🤓 can be complicated if you’re unfamiliar. First of all, it’s good to own one or two, just in case. If they make you uncomfortable, that’s okay. They should. Talk to someone you trust or research how to safely have and handle cameras. Next, you should know about how to maintain, clean, and clear them if they get jammed up. Cameras can be more complicated than many believe. Invest time and familiarize. After that, practice, practice, practice. If you’re experienced, brush up. Personally, I prefer learning with my community, but alone is great too. It’s better to be prepared now and not regretful later. If you’re in Portland, say hello and keep an eye out for meets. I understand I have privilege. I built my own path, but I recognize how lucky I am. I’m from a small, rural town. I’ve lived in Portland near a decade, and it has shown me so much love. I’ve photographed HUNDREDS of weddings of people of all walks of life. Different cultures, colors, sexual orientations. I’ve photographed the alt, the vanilla, tolerant people and even outright racists. I’ve experienced every kind of person the PNW has to offer. Diversity 🖤 I have learned from an experienced and full-circle pathway that there is a serious underbelly to this whole divide. I do not want to go out in the street and yell “f you” to the “other-side”. I am very upset with some of the beliefs out in the open right now, but hate cannot be met with hate or the outcome will eventually be even more terrifying than the horrible reality that many are already facing everyday in our country. We don’t need to be thrilled about our neighbors, but we certainly need to be tolerant, because there’s a terrifying motto I read in a history book that reads “DIVIDE AND CONQUER.” Well, the apparent leaders of this country are pushing that exact narrative. I started attending protests to document, unbiased. My experience has made it very clear. My city is not a war zone. Antifa are not terrorists. MAGA subscribers could be my mother, my brother, my father. Whether we agree or not, it is imperative that we remember we are people first. Neighbors. Families. I will shake the hand of the anti-fascist and the MAGA seeking reason, tolerance, and commonality. I will also defend humans of ANY status, immigrant or otherwise. I won’t say it doesn’t seem we’re too far gone, but seriously, what is expected to come next? If we can’t find a way to come together, coming years will prove that this was never a matter of left and right. My mind has been haunted by the insanity around me and if I’m not focused on that, I’m focused on work and my family. To my community, stay vigilant and PAY ATTENTION. Defend your neighbors and maintain eloquence when possible. Have discussions, not screaming matches. However, if due process is violated in your neighborhood, deliver hell. Zero tolerance for thugs.
