I joined the farm’s founding board. In 2022 I worked up the guts to quit my job after 15 years at a place I loved deeply. I had a conviction and abiding belief in what SHF is, the work that it does, the people who steward the org - its full-throated commitment to equity through action in our food system.
DC and I made Sky High Farm Universe to propel the farm’s work to the center of the cultural dialogue, and raise sustaining revenue for its work. We saw that we could pull levers that exist in commerce and industry to create new and better outcomes - a proposition for something that could humbly lead through deed. Here we are today, 28 months in, and this beautiful experiment is bearing fruit: 5.5M in sales, 700K in generated in donations for SHF 501C3.
It’s not hard to devote your energies to something you believe in wholly, but it’s really the empathy, passion and brilliance of a group of committed individuals that manifests all the dreams you have, and bestows you with the confidence to see them through.
Matty, Sidney, Nicole, Jake, Ben, Patrick, Eileen, Soba, Ethan, Grant: thank you.
As the leader of a 2 yr-old start-up, the cover of NYT Styles is sort of unfathomable to me; it’s an acknowledgment that belongs to all of us.
I’m also in disbelief that we are launching our first beauty product with the ultimate clean beauty pioneer
@tataharper , by way of intro by
@celia_ellenberg (thank you C). Tata makes the very best products out there, but perhaps most potently she is donating 100 percent of all proceeds from her sales directly to SHF. That is the kind of commitment we need to see more of in the world.
I can’t wait to share all we have in store tomorrow and beyond. Thank you for the love and support, always.
