Another amazing stop along our tour through Europa on the search for sustainable solutions to be integrated into our @huchusail catamaran project!
Together with @danieleberruti and @marcellomerlino from @paulowniapiemonte and @paulownia4planet we visited @liviafirth@ale_giuggioli and @mr.eco81 at their beautiful biomimicing organic agroforest farm @quintosapore ! Together with seed banks like @adipa_sezionepiemonte they grow a variety of over 1000 fruits and vegetables in combination with #paulownia trees that don’t just capture CO2 but keep nutrients in the ground and give shade while supporting the growth of plants we get to eat. No mono culture but A multi culture! Diverse, versatile, beautiful and resilient, this farm shows how #holistic #agriculture can be done by copying how nature actually works! The #paulownia plays an essential role and the wood it produces is absolutely stunning! Thank you all for this incredible experience and for having us! To be continued😉

What an amazing day with a wonderful and motivated group of people @arm_ual and the professor/our great host, @juand_gv at the @unialmeria ! Between the desert and the sea, between a vast area of conventional greenhouses where Europe’s food is grown, the project #agroconnect an experimental greenhouse of the #future is set up at IFAPA right next to the university. #water is already and will become an even greater topic in the future as deserts grown and clean water is getting scarce. Here they research and test desalination with renewable energy at its absolute best. Using every last bit of this desalinated water in a completely circular and 0 waste system, reusing wastewater to grow organic fertilizers and emitting no harmful toxins is how future farming could and should look like. We learned so many important things which we will be needing to live a circular and self sustaining life on the water! Nous avons reçu la visite de @danyroesner la semaine dernière pour son projet de navire présenté ci-dessous en anglais (vous avez un petit bouton "traduire" tout en bas pour vous aider en cas de difficulté). Une rencontre riche en échange sur la problématique du plancton ainsi que du plastique sur lequel son projet se fait sur sa suppression dans la construction de navire! The Hu’chu project is the creation of the world’s first completely environmental friendly ocean conservation, exploration platform in form of a 50 ft Aluminium sailing catamaran, designed by actor Daniel Roesner and Amina Hassan Roesner. The catamaran will be captained by Amina and Daniel and host scientist, explorers and story tellers to conduct science and bring the ocean and the importance for its conservation closer to the public.
The catamaran itself stands for the answer, how boats should be built to not have negative impacts on the ocean eco system. Sustainable Innovations, non toxic materials and self sufficient life on board are just a few aspects about “The Hu’chu” . right now, Amina and Daniel are on a roadtrip through Europa, interviewing people, collaborating with companies and visiting institutes to document all the different topics of the Hu’chu and put the platform together. Today they visited the observatoire du plankton to learn more about the importance and beauty of plankton, about the dangers of micro plastics and how plankton research could benefit from the finished catamaran in the future.
Finally got to have some water time in between shoots… standing on this first @huchu_surf board I made in 2014 with only natural materials, coming from the fields and the forests is what it’s all about!! We believe that it’s not just about what you say, it’s about how you act, what you do and how respectful you behave on this planet. Today @terre_de_lin_cooperative in Normandie #france🇫🇷 filming the process of turning a #flax plant into material for #clothes and #Composites ! This plant can for sure substitute a lot of toxic, artificial fiber material in the clothing and especially in the composite Industrie. With we have turned these amazing fibers into the deck of our #sustainabilty #surfboards and it will for sure play a big roll in our #sustainable #catamaran project! It is an ancient plant and the knowledge around the production gets passed on through the generations. The #flaxplant has a special meaning to me and plays a big roll in the Hu’chu name (read more on )! It is definitely a big player in pushing toxic #GRP #fiberglass #carbon composites out of the market and hopefully out of our #oceans and #water !
