Throwback to around this time last year... I always feel nervous when posting any of my music, all that rings out to me are the mistakes I've made and what I could've played better 😅 but hey it's all part of the learning process. So here's a very small snippet of a beautiful Ajrara Gharana Kayda, performed at on the occasion of our Gurus' Saraswati Puja... Senior musicians and connoisseurs alike, please forgive any mistakes! 🙏🏽 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #tabla #kayda #kaida #tisrajati #beat #rhythm #Ajrara #hindustani #hindustaniclassical #icm #indianclassicalmusic #musicanddance #art #london #artsinlondon #lehra #tablarhythmscience #baithak #gharana #jaipur #jaipurgharana

Dhanraj Persaud Pandey began his training at the age of 14 under the tutelage of Pandit Rajkumar Misra. In keeping with the lineage of his Guru, Dhanraj follows the playing style of the Jaipur and Farukkhabad gharanas of tabla. Not only is Dhanraj an accomplished tabla player but also an experienced vocalist, currently receiving training from Srimati Chandrima Misra of the Kasur-Patiala gharana. Dhanraj has performed extensively around the UK and is fast becoming a much sought after performer within the Indian classical music scene in this country.

On Saturday 5th April, Legacy – An Evening of Tabla and Kathak was presented by Bhavan’s resident Tabla teacher, Pt. @misra748 , alongside his daughter, @saberikathak who presented Kathak, accompanied by Pt. @hiranmaymitramusic on Harmonium The evening began on a heartfelt note as Rajkumar Ji shared a special message dedicated to his students, recognising their passion, dedication, and hard work. As the evening unfolded, the audience witnessed something truly magical — with Rajkumar Ji and Hiranmay Ji, maestros in their own right, captivating everyone with their performance. This was followed by a dynamic presentation from Rajkumar Ji and Saberi, beautifully supported by Rajkumar Ji’s students on tabla. In all, Legacy was a moving tribute to tradition, dedication, and the timeless beauty of Indian classical arts. Picture credits: @danny_rhythmic
