First of all, I want to say thank you to
@marvagriffin10 and the whole #SaloneSatellite team for creating such an incredible platform for young designers to present their work. Thank you so much!
A huge thank you as well to
@dannerstiftung for the amazing support for this year’s SaloneSatellite exhibition and last year’s edition too. You guys are incredible.
For the exhibition design, I also want to thank
@littlegreene.de for the beautiful wall colours (btw the colour was “Light Bronze Green”) and
@jabanstoetz.contract for the flooring and curtains.
And of course, thank you so much to everyone who stopped by. It was really awesome to meet all of you and present the work in person.
For everyone who couldn’t see the exhibition in real life:
It was a presentation of objects made from very different materials and design approaches.
On one hand, there were products developed from existing or leftover materials, like the Leeway Lamp made from used sailcloth or the Venti Family from
@folkreykjavik , originally designed from offcuts of the ventilation industry.
On the other hand, I showed objects that are very much about the material itself: a rounded solid wood chair that highlights the beauty of the grain, and a barstool with a more technical and constructive character, made from folded aluminium sheets.
The exhibition also explored an approach that isn’t new, but feels increasingly relevant again: using ready-made industrial parts and working with what already exists. The mirror and wardrobe from the Profile Family are based on standard anodised aluminium profiles.
