Marking fifty years since their 1975 debut album Azimuth, their new album Marca Passo proves that the band’s alchemic brew of Brazilian jazz-funk and cosmic samba soul remains as vital as ever 🦅
@alexmalheiros , the sole remaining original member, is joined by @kikocontinentino on keyboards and @renatomassacalmon on drums. The three-man orchestra’s unmistakable sound is rooted in Brazil’s MPB studio scene of the 1970s and early 1980s.
The album is produced by studio mastermind @danmaunick , responsible for Azymuth’s two previous studio albums, Fênix in 2016 and Aurora in 2011.
Marca Passo releases on limited edition red (750 units), blue (750 units) & black vinyl LP editions, CD and digitally on the 6th June 2025, via Far Out Recordings, supported by European and North American tours.

Just heard that one of my very favourite English musicians, the legendary Danny Thompson, passed away…
I know every day can seem like a neverending procession of eulogies on social media, but I wanted to share some of my favourite performances from him.

Spent the day at my dad’s incredible studio @colibrisoundrecorders , mixin’ the latest album I recorded in Brazil earlier this year with the grand master @alexmalheiros , we set up a lil’ studio in a converted bedroom in Rio & recorded it all at home, drums, keys, percussion, horns, bass the lot…sounding killah! Thanks to @hackneysoundrecorder & @incognito_world for their help!

While i’m no fan of spotify, it was a nice surprise to see he included a track that I wrote and produced for Mamao’s last album ‘Poison Fruit’ & the whole playlist is pretty amazing & features a track from Azymuth too!
