Weeks posts
Hey there, it has been a while, I have become shy posting on Instagram. Partly, because I’m not producing so much individual work to share anymore, partly because I have become exceedingly self-critical and strict with myself. Wether I am facing a kind of creative blockage or a phase of professional reorientation, I can’t quite tell yet. For now, let me show you what I have been working on most recently. A lightweight display for @fermentsbakery to sell their bread at the weekly Sunday market at Marseille’s old harbour. Made from an old oak parquet flooring, foldable and stackable frames hold the vitrine’s PET windows. Two modules that connect to one another display the delicious sourdough bread proposed by the bakery. I liked working on furniture and hope to get the chance again soon. I’ll keep you posted, possibly with another post about projects I was/am working on at the time.

_________________ EN In the urban garden of São Vicente, next to the Andorinhas neighbourhood, Daniel Parnitzke led two collective moments: first, a workshop in which he built a wood-fired oven using recycled and repurposed materials; then a second, where the oven was used to make cherry and plum jam. In a third moment, the “Monument to Everyday Life”, designed by @atelier___local for FORMA DA VIZINHANÇA, became a stage. Or rather, a table and bench for a breakfast of crêpes, also cooked in the rocket oven, sweetened with the jam, which was also shared with neighbours who took some home. Sweet moments of community… and sugar! 📸 @josecaldeiraphoto / @braga25cpc

Mais informações e inscrições em www.formadavizinhanca.pt e em braga25.pt _________________ The second activation of the FORMA DA VIZINHANÇA festival takes place at the São Vicente Urban Garden and is led by designer Daniel Parnitzke, whose work explores the idea of “pleasure in scarcity” — turning material limitations into opportunities for collaborative creation and community exchange. The activation unfolds in two workshops: one focused on building a handmade stove using reused materials (17 & 18 June) and another on making jam with fruit from the Horta das Lameiras (19 & 20 June). The process culminates in a community pancake breakfast on 21 June, open to everyone. Participation is free, and it’s possible to register for each workshop individually or just for the breakfast. 💧 In quali momenti ne riconosciamo davvero l’importanza?

wood fired boiler, heating a hot tub Built within 3 days from gas bottles and and metal scraps, this stove is used to heat up water for a collective hot tub. It’s based on rocket stove principles (clean combustion, efficient airflow) to produce a maximum of heat with a minimum of fuel (workshop scraps). For heat exchange it uses a double approach: 1- a copper spiral with constant water flow in the flames 2- exchanging heat over the metal surface by being immersed in a water reservoir. After several iterations and daily improvements, we managed to heat 2000 litres of water from 15 to 45 degrees in just a few hours. “Amidst the aroma of essential oils and the crackling of the wood-fired boiler, people immersed themselves in the steamy waters. Bodies heated up and cooled down under makeshift showers and ice baths, renewing the exhilarating experience of hot water against chilled skin.” together with: Alexander Römer, Daniel Parnitzke and Andries De Lange from @hello_constructlab Find the project here @hello_constructlab or check it out in a few days on constructlab.net. Stork Fiction dir. Mehdi & Nourddine Sli dance-film, 2023, 9:32 • Can art and design create novel bridges with other living beings and repair bonds broken by centuries of anthropocentrism? Can they help us understand the ways of inhabiting the world of other-than-human animals so that we might establish new manners of cohabitation with them? Philosophers Vinciane Despret and Donna Haraway suggest that the creation of anticipatory stories – stories mixing fiction and reality – can allow us to imagine new forms of interaction with the other-than-human world. Following Despret and Haraway’s intuition, Stork Fiction is a dance-film celebrating the white storks that populate the estuary of the Charente River (France) and that are stopping their transcontinental migrations because of Climate Change. Combining handheld camera movements, drone shots, and steady sequences, the film is an invitation to the audience to slow down and attend to the otherness of these birds from a creative and poetic perspective. • d-o-t-s present / a @lights.prod  film / directed by @mehdisli  & @nourddinesli  / imagined by Daniel Parnitzke, Evey Kwong, Jasmin Sisti, Hadrien Vénat, Laura Drouet, Léone Salinas Muñiz, Olivier Lacrouts, Pollyanna Moss, Wendy Owusu / dancers @jasminsisti  & @sendomejunje  / costume design @wendyowusu_  / set design & construction @danipar__@evey___k@venathadrien@polly_moss , Laura Drouet, Olivier Lacrouts / birds research consultants Christope Boucher & Nicolas Gendre (@lpo_officiel ), @tristan_plot  & Bayo / maritime knots coach @anne_lise_capelle  / second camera operator saadlaafou / drone operator Medhi Sli / editing Saad Laafou & Simo Mehyaoui / colour grading Nourddine Sli / music EJRM, Io, Cosmic Cascades / production support @agence_eva_albarran  / material providers Scierie Démousseau (wood), Corderie Palus (hemp cords), Tissuterie Devaud (linen textiles) / filmed on location at @boisbuchet  / film realised through the artistic creation funding programme @mondes_nouveaux  promoted by @culture_gouv  in cooperation with @conservatoiredulittoral . • #StorkFiction #DanceFilm #DanceOnScreen #VideoDance #DanceForTheCamera #ExperimentalShortFilms #dancefilmmaking

Festive closure of the project and collaboration with @lapile_citymined on a terrain vague in the Chaussée d'Anvers. We invited everybody and presented the different objects conceived over the past weeks and months – the Energy Trailer, a solar oven and a waffle maker. At this occasion, we wanted to discuss about Renovation as a means to respond to energy issues in Brussels Nord. For me now it’s vacation, bonne rentrée à tout le monde! Rocket Waffle Maker, and at the same time an illustration of the perks and advantages of isolation. If you don’t isolate your roof, all the heat produced inside of your home get’s out and you may even cook waffles on it (a bit shaky, but that’s the idea). Yet another device made from scrap that works great in gathering people around food – this time, waffles somewhere between Liègoise et Bruxelloise (proudly prepared and cooked by @lapile_citymined ). Materials gathered in the street: a gas bottle, an expansion tank and four gas bottles originally containing nitrous oxide (you find them everywhere in the city at the moment). Would you like to use it (in Brussels)? Reach out to @lapile_citymined  with your proposals. Photos: Nao Maltese @pragma__studio

Solar Oven House, illustrating how hot it gets in a roof flat under the sun. It is almost entirely built from materials found in the city: several bed frames, different furnitures, a refrigerator rack, cardboard as isolation. It’s a fully functional oven that struggles with bad weather, but when the sun is out it cooks a cake within 4h at about 130°C. You can sterilise pots, boil water, cook bread or make a Ratatouille, without using anything else than the sun! Obviously, quite magical. Yet, the rainy Belgian summer made it quite difficult to use. Would you like to use it (in Brussels)? What would you like to do / to cook / to melt / to heat with it? Reach out to @lapile_citymined  with your proposals.

AUTONOLABO 2033 [3/3] We are writing the year 2033. Many things are different than before. Water has become scarce and valuable. Most supermarkets have closed down, money doesn’t matter anymore, we prefer to trade. We have become more independent, we produce our own food and energy. Some professions no longer exist, new ones have emerged. But life in 2033 is still worth living. ___ Autonolabos de Chamblet: 2033 This project was realized as part of the Création en Cours residency program run by @ateliersmedicis with the support of the French Ministry of Culture and in partnership with the French Ministry of Education. #creationencours #autonolabos #chamblet #pleasureinscarcity #CM2 #autonomie
