In this commission for @marksfeinkost the focus of our photography shifts from documentation to atmospheric images. An almost cinematic reading of the space. Atmosphere operates as a condition for perception. It does not reside in objects nor can be isolated as a distinct element. It is a perceptual quality. Atmospheres are composed through elements like light, shadow, air, colours, tones, texture, arrangements, but also shaped by something less stable: a certain vibration that emerges in the moment, contingent and difficult to fix, decisive in how a space is felt. It’s something that shapes how a situation is registered at a sensory level. Photography intervenes in this condition by giving it form, by rendering it perceptible. In this sense, to photograph is to make an atmosphere visible. As Susan Sontag wrote, “photographs are experience captured.” Credits: Photo credits @danielschaeferstudio Creative Direction @erika_g_lee

“Traveling aboard the #belleepoquetrain in Switzerland between #Montreux and #Zweisimmen feels like stepping into another era. Inside the vintage carriages, polished wood, velvet seats and warm light create an atmosphere where time seems to slow, while the landscapes shift gradually from the shores of Lake Geneva to the quiet valleys of the Bernese Alps. Large windows frame the landscapes outside like moving tableaux, while inside the carriage our attention turns to the interiors… materials, colours, textures and fleeting moments…” TSt. 📸 Photo-credits @danielschaeferstudio Belle-époque Train @mob.goldenpass @danielschaeferstudio is a photography studio documenting architecture, interiors, people, and art, approaching each project as an editorial practice focused on atmospheres and storytelling.

The Dune opens as the central restaurant of The Florentin @theflorentinhotel by Althoff Collection @althoffcollection , a space that brings together contemporary cuisine and a carefully composed atmosphere. Interior Design by @atelier_zuerich and lighting concept by @lichtkunstlicht creates a warm, soft glow across the tables, shaping the space without imposing itself. The luminaires by Occhio @occhio_lighting , placed with precision, work in dialogue with the materials and tones of the interior, allowing each dish to be presented with clarity and naturalness. The cuisine, led by Niclas Nußbaumer @niclas_nussbaumer follows seasonality and respect for the product. The dishes combine precise technique with depth of flavour, letting each ingredient speak for itself. Light and food taking centre stage, shape an experience that feels very calm, contemporary and cinematic. Photography: @danielschaeferstudio Editorial Narrative: @erika_g_lee Technical assistant: @chrisreger.photo Post-production: @esteruvillaescusa Thanks and congratulations to @boris.messmer @carmen_hackmann and everybody involved in this amazing project! @danielschaeferstudio is a photography studio documenting architecture, interiors, people, and art, approaching each project as an editorial practice focused on atmospheres and storytelling rather than mere documentation. This carousel offers a glimpse into how spaces are observed, framed, and translated into visual narratives.

Tucked away in one of Amsterdam’s most refined residential areas, this house unfolds as a quiet dialogue between art, architecture and lived-in elegance. Designed by @nicemakers for an art collector with a deep affinity for Art Deco, the interior balances heritage and contemporaneity. Ornate cornices, rose-adorned ceilings and a bespoke stucco relief coexist with carefully sourced pieces from flea markets, warehouses and antique fairs across Europe, each object carrying its own history. Modern furnishings meet mid-century Italian influences, shaping an atmosphere that feels both timeless and personal. More than a home, the space operates as a private sanctuary and a living gallery, where art and design are in constant conversation. 📸 Commissioned by @albarran.bourdais for the Solo Sculpture Trail in Matarraña. Credits @danielschaeferstudio Facing each other across the landscape, @claudiacomte Nikolai (Big Marble Coral) (2023) and Burning Sunset engage in a quiet dialogue. Comte’s practice explores rhythm, scale, and the fragile harmony between geometry and nature. In Matarraña, her sculptures seem to absorb the breath of the terrain: Nikolai, carved from marble, reflects the soft glow of Burning Sunset, two energies suspended in perfect tension along the horizon. Here, contemporary art doesn’t simply inhabit the land, it resonates with it, revealing the material and temporal pulse of its surroundings. 📍 Solo Sculpture Trail | Solo Houses, Matarraña 🎞️ Commissioned by @albarran.bourdais #claudiacomte #solosculpturetrail #matarraña #albarranbourdais #landart #contemporaryart #solohouses

War Stop by @jordi.colomer Photo-shoot commissioned by @albarran.bourdais Solo Sculpture Trail by @albarran.bourdais 📍La Venta d’Aubert, Matarraña Amid the natural landscape of Matarraña, Jordi Colomer presents War Stop, a #sculptural intervention that unearths the memory of violence through a minimal yet forceful gesture. The placement of this piece in La Venta d’Aubert transforms the terrain into a field of resonance. War Stop acts as a non-monumental memory marker, one that asks to be discovered rather than imposed. Throughout his practice, Jordi Colomer has explored the material traces of power, the architecture of defense, and the silences of war’s aftermath. His works often verge on contemporary archaeology, inviting us to pause, to read in the ruins. In War Stop, the gesture is contained, but the weight is undeniable: a sculpture that resists full disappearance. 📷 Photographs by @danielschaeferstudio Production @erika_g_lee Post-production @esteruvillaescusa

Assembly 2 by @pedrocabritareis Photo-shoot commissioned by @albarran.bourdais Solo Sculpture Trail by @albarran.bourdais 📍La Venta d’Aubert, Matarraña Set against the rugged landscape of #Matarraña, Pedro Cabrita presents Assembly 2, an open structure made from industrial elements and raw materials, rising like a gesture of suspended architecture. The work evokes a contemporary ruin, or a skeletal frame of construction, stripped of utility. Cabrita explores themes of permanence, fragility, memory, and the notion of inhabiting space. In Assembly 2, the form speaks through its own precariousness. Its placement in La Venta d’Aubert intensifies this tension between the natural and the constructed. In dialogue with the surrounding topography, the work becomes an interruption that does not wound but reveals. Throughout his career, Pedro Cabrita has developed a sculptural language that blends the monumental with the unstable, the rational with the poetic. His works challenge material and spatial hierarchies, offering spaces for contemplation and direct experience. Assembly 2 does not impose itself on the landscape: it questions it, frames it and inhabits it. 📷 Photo credit: @danielschaeferstudio Production @erika_g_lee

Orbital by Mona Hatoum Photo-shoot commissioned by @albarran.bourdais Solo Sculpture Trail by @albarran.bourdais 📍La Venta d’Aubert #Matarraña Amid the hills of Matarraña, Mona Hatoum presents Orbital, a #sculpture that enters into dialogue with the #landscape through the strength of forged iron and the presence of #emptiness. Suspended in a delicate balance between #gravity and #lightness, the sculpture generates a magnetic field in the natural surroundings. Hatoum’s installation invites us to pause, to walk around it, to enter into orbit with it. The choice of location is no coincidence: the arid and open terrain of Matarraña enhances the character of the piece, while its human scale allows for an intimate, bodily encounter, a liminal relationship between earth and sky. Orbital stands as a silent yet active presence, like many of Hatoum’s works. Throughout her career, Mona Hatoum has explored the tensions between the familiar and the uncanny, the bodily and the political, the domestic and the strange. Her work, deeply rooted in the experience of displacement, surveillance, and the fragility of the human body, moves across multiple disciplines. In Orbital, these concerns are condensed into a form that encapsulates her language: seemingly simple structures that conceal deep layers of symbolic, emotional, and spatial resonance.
