🎙 One-on-one with @lucia.chilibroste — @teatrocolon
During the 100th Anniversary Gala of the @balletteatrocolon , a moment of pause — a conversation about the essence of dance, memory, and the invisible language that unites us.
Together with @luciachilibroste , we reflected on how movement can still reveal what words forget — how the body remembers what humanity once knew.
A heartfelt thank you to the @teatrocolon for making this encounter possible, and for continuing to create spaces where art becomes dialogue.

When dance is performed within a physical space, a magical connection appears between the audience, the dancer, and the surroundings.
To honor the history and myths of Lascaux and its 20,000-year-old cave art, Snøhetta invited the Norwegian National Ballet and choreographer Daniel Proietto to interpret the spaces of Lascaux IV – International Centre for Parietal Art in Montignac in France, through dance.
The result is an exceptional artistic performance by Proietto, featuring celebrated principal dancer Yolanda Correa alongside him. Together, they create a powerful connection between movement, myth, and memory.
Bringing contemporary dance to the heart of parietal art adds a new dimension to experiencing the wonder and history of the Lascaux caves and the stories painted on its walls.
Premiered on 19 September at Lascaux IV during the European Heritage Days, the performance reminds us that art, movement and connection have always been part of our shared human identity.
Hidden is a collaboration between the Norwegian National Ballet, Know Nation, and Snøhetta.

Tonight, two works very dear to my heart return to the stage: Cygne and Alan Lucien Øyen’s Sinnerman, for the 100-year anniversary gala of Thüringer Staatsballett.
Sharing this evening with Melissa Escalona makes it even more meaningful. Ten years after we first worked together, these days in the studio reminded me of the rare intensity, trust, and devotion that dance can create between artists. Some encounters leave a mark that time does not erase.
Deep gratitude to Vitaliy Petrov for making this reunion possible and for creating the space for such a beautiful artistic encounter.
Tomorrow begins a new chapter.

I met Melissa Escalona @artist_journal_ 10 years ago, when she learned Cygne at just 18 years old. Among the entire Cuban National Ballet, she immediately stood out to me like a star. Fresh out of school, yet already carrying something rare — an extraordinary presence, soul, discipline, and depth far beyond her years. I simply wouldn’t settle for anyone else.
From the very beginning, I was deeply fascinated by her dancing, her spirit, and her unwavering dedication to the work. Melissa is truly a one-of-a-kind performer.
Today, 10 years later, I feel incredibly happy and proud to be reunited with her for the gala celebrating 100 years of Thüringer Staatsballett @thuringerstaatsballett
Tomorrow marks the beginning of a beautiful new journey with this company — first with this special gala, and later this year with Faust, a new creation for the full company that I am beyond thrilled to finally announce.
Very grateful for what is ahead.
Thank you @petrovvitaliy_ballett

What you feel in the body
is not always the origin of the tension.
Many patterns are compensations:
ways the body learned to protect, stabilize, survive.
Real release begins
when awareness becomes more precise.
Pressure.
Breath.
Attention.
Regulation.
A different relationship with the body.

This work didn’t come from one place.
It comes from years of training,
from different teachers, disciplines, and experiences.
What matters is not the method—
but what stays in your body.
Calm. Clarity. Trust.
You’ll feel the difference.
Because your body already knows.

Dance was never an abstract idea to me.
It was always the most powerful, transformative, and healing ritual —for the body, for the nervous system,in the way we respond to the worldbefore we have words for it, and therefore to society and our environment.
It is perception. It is pure connection. It is the state in which we enter flowand allow creation to emerge.
Long before performance, before form, before technique, there is this:movement as a signal of being alive,of being in relation.
Not something we do,but something that moves through us —when we stop resisting it.
And yet, we are often taught to interfere. To control, to shape, to become. To move from fear, from the need to be enough.
That fear does not stay contained. It is transmitted. It is felt.
But when the body begins to listen differently —when it releases that distortion —something precise emerges.Presence. Clarity. A kind of truththat cannot be performed, only accessed.
For me, dance is this space of transformation.Where what we carry can shift.Where pain can reorganize into something alive.
Not as metaphor —as reality.
Today, we celebrate dance. From the body, from what connects us.
Daniel Proietto × KNOW NATION
