✨ Celebrating Umā ✨
Today, we celebrate a dancer whose grace, passion, and unwavering dedication have shaped not only our stage, our community, and our organization — but also our hearts.
For over 25 years, Umā has given her time, talent, and spirit to Veselka. Through every performance, rehearsal, and moment in the studio, she has uplifted those around her — leading with humility, strength, and a deep love for the art of dance… however painful that was for the rest of us
But Umā’s impact goes far beyond the stage and studio.
She has poured her heart into every corner of our community — serving as President for 5 years, designing sets, props, and costumes, creating media graphics and merchandise, leading yoga at kids summer camps, capturing memories as our photographer, and mentoring the next generation of dancers and board members.
An engineer and member of the SkunkWorks Ensemble, Umā has taught us what she calls the “art of reverse-engineering choreography” — helping us see movement, transitions, and formations through an entirely new lens. Her analytical creativity has challenged us to look deeper, think differently, and approach dance with both precision and curiosity.
Her creativity, leadership, and generosity have left an indelible mark on Veselka — including some unforgettable lost -but-found again Winnie-the-Pooh characters along the way.
As Umā embarks on her next chapter, pursuing her graduate degree at Manchester Metropolitan University’s Faculty of Art and Design, we thank her from the bottom of our hearts for her years of dedication, love, and vision.
Your legacy, Umā, will live on in every dancer who follows in your footsteps.
We are endlessly grateful.
And we will miss you more than words can say. 🖤
