Recovering in the ☀️ What I’ve learnt from my, very much needed, lovely long bank holiday in Marrakech… 1. I’m not 100% ready to be abroad alone, yet. But getting there. Thank you to Darren and Alfie for assisting me. 2. My senses will be stressed out and fatigued. Especially in a Medina. Especially around snakes. And that is ok. Breathe. 3. Travelling alone is fine. 4. My affected left ear will travel - but will also suffer from pressure issues. Prepare for popping. 5. Other strangers kids are very misbehaved. I’m glad I don’t have kids. 6. The brain will tell me when it’s fully recovered and is working to do so, even when I don’t realise it. 7. Writing my third book in the sun is my happy place. 8. I still am dizzy and still wobbly and still fatigued. That’s life right now. I’m still recovering. 9. Marrakech is cheap. 10. A hammam massage is a traditional Middle Eastern steam bath ritual that every doctor should prescribe as part of patient recovery. ❤️‍🩹

It’s gonna be MAY! Slowly feeling more like myself, recovering - with good and bad days - and getting back to life. It’s been a mad few months that I can’t quite comprehend, or believe, but I feel like I’m getting through the other side as best I can. Let’s make this a good month.

What an incredibly inspiring day - very exhausting (and I didn’t even run, lol!) - made me miss running. Huge congratulations to all runners that took part in The London Marathon. Truly such an achievement and great atmosphere to spectate in. Massive well done to my friends, you all should be so proud. You all smashed it!! And shout out to @keeganhirst and @andrewdwheatcroft - who i screamed for but didn’t get to say hey to when they ran past - both running for brilliant causes. And well done @kittyscottclaus who not only ran, but sang her heart out for a crowd too with Claire from STEPS - iconic as always.

Attended the wonderful book launch for Piper At The Gates Of Dusk last night, a book by my lovely, kind and talented friend, Patrick Ness. My first event out in quite a while, and a worthy one at that! I lasted an hour (damn recovery) and drank a mocktail, as I chatted books and writing. Bliss. Yes, I’m now spending today yawning, thank you.

You have to laugh at the trolls/wild comments on a serious subject! The BBC video I did is true - for anyone that thought otherwise. Meningitis is serious, know the signs and save a life.

Sunshine ☀️☀️☀️☀️ Three months since my life changed and I got taken to hospital, diagnosed with meningitis and given a bleak outcome with not good odds. Yet, thankfully, here we are. Now hearing about students in Kent dying from the illness, bringing it all back and knowing we must look out for the symptoms. Thoughts are with their families at this time. ❤️
