After more than half a decade of brainstorming, cutting, erasing, and re-imagining, this long-time project has carried me across countries, helped my name grow as an illustrator, and—above all—taught me the importance of preserving a piece of myself in every work. Illustrators don’t merely accompany stories; we reshape the hills and mountains that authors dream of, giving life to a new, vibrant landscape of our own. Thanks to @foliosociety and to Murakami for the wonderful journey.

Too humbled, too delighted to contribute to this beautiful 100 artist project. To celebrate its centennial, The New Yorker @newyorkermag invited one hundred of their favorite illustrators to reimagine the number 100—honoring a hundred years of groundbreaking journalism, fiction, poetry, and humor. It’s truly a privilege to be featured among so many artists whose work I deeply admire: Roz Chast, Olimpia Zagnoli, Armando Veve, Joost Swarte, Aurora Colón, Pablo Amargo, Maira Kalman, Victor Guan, Till Lauer, Jorge Colombo, Rose Wong, Pierre Buttin, Millie von Platen, Javier Jaeén, Diana Ejaita, Javi Aznarez, Greg Clarke, Serge Bloch, Sarah Mazzetti, Henrik Wagenbreth, Malika Favre, Balint Zsako, Francesco Muzzi, Atelier Bingo, R.O. This episode —which @emergencemagazine invited me to illustrate and animate— is one of the most beautiful things I have listened. It made me realize how –Sound– is the underestimated superglue that holds our physical and emotional reality together. I take the liberty of bringing their promotional text of this audiostory to my IG post: “Sound is more ancient than planet Earth, more ancient even than atoms…”—@davidgeorgehaskell When did the living Earth first start to sing? This sonic journey—adapted from biologist David G. Haskell’s latest book, Sounds Wild and Broken—brings us to the beginning of sound and song on planet Earth, an immersive audio story made entirely of tiny trembling waves in air, the fugitive, ephemeral energy that we call sound. Spoken words combined with terrestrial sounds invite our senses and imaginations to go outward into an experience of the living Earth and its history. We invite you on a journey into deep time and deep sound that will open your ears and your imagination. Written and narrated by @davidgeorgehaskell Sound design by @matthewmikkelsen and @jonathankawchuk Dialogue editing by @cassandramedcalfvo Produced by Emmanuel Vaughan-Lee Art Director: @noorbird Assistant Art Director: @phopheebo #illustration #illustrationartists #creative #illustrationdaily #illustrationgram #illustrationwork #illustrationnow #artistsoninstagram #artwork #watercolor #animation

BRAIN (月刊ブレーン) is a famous Japanese magazine in the advertising field, known, among other things, for its magnificent covers, inviting renowned creatives from around the world to interpret concepts for each edition. Honami Saito, the editor, invited me to interpret the phrase “Summer is in the air.” I think that sometimes sadness is the springboard for happiness. Happiness is made of sadness too. I uploaded other covers by artists and design studios that I found fascinating. 1. Daniel Liévano 2. Sarah Hollowood 3. Studio Feixen @studiofeixen 4. Studio Bergini @studiobergini 5. Wade and Leta @wadeandleta 6. Alexis Jamet @alexis_jamet 7. Porto Rocha @porto_rocha 8. Dan Woodger @danwoodger 9. Agof @agof.design 10. Nejc Prah @nejcprah PD. It’s been a while since I posted something here, many projects in a silent queue, but had to pull som time for a lovely Japanese project.

For @newyorkermag Is A.I. Making Mothers Obsolete? Helen Phillips’s new novel takes place in a dystopian world where the environment has been devastated and humans have outsourced their best selves to tireless, empathetic robots. I took inspirations from many of renaissance images of “Virgin with Child”. Following paintings by Gerard David, Master of the Mansi Magdalen, Master of The Holy Blood. Art Direction: @supriyakalidas
