I have a new appreciation and respect for music but most importantly for the GIFT that it is to make music. As a young opera singer it is important to strive for technical excellence and continue to cultivate the voice but, what I have seen lately is many people my age forget about what it is that drew them to performing in the first place and for me that is: Music is the purest form of emotion. Every emotion can be relayed through music. I’m posting this video not for any other purpose than to remind myself why I’m in this industry, not for fame, awards, money, status, but because music (and making music) is where I am my freest, happiest self. 💛

ITS TIMEEEEE! I’m #thrilledtoannounce that I will be joining @hougrandopera and @hgo_chorus in the ensemble for Porgy and Bess! It’s the first day of school today and I am beyond excited to begin work with all of these wonderful, amazing, BLACK, people of TALENT! Catfish Row here I come!
I’m gonna be a bit more aggressive (a.k.a consistent) about posting my music making going forward. I just want to take this opportunity to thank Daniel and ALL of you for the light that you have brought into my life through these online outlets. I can’t tell you how much your passion for this art form means to me, and I honestly have no words to describe how videos like this affect me.
This right here. This is why I do what I do. This is why I have followed in the footsteps of my mentors and tried to advocate and guide young artists at every level. It is this passion of our next generation that is going to fuel how opera moves forward into 2025 and beyond, and I for one could not be more excited.
