That’s a wrap from Melbourne, Australia! Humbled to work with an incredible staff who makes trips like these memorable. Looking forward to the season ahead.

Strength, Power, and Speed are sexy.
For a long time, the idea of balance and stability training seemed futile. Depending on who you talk to, these terms can vary in definition.
For me, stability in athletes is like the suspension system in a car. Just as a car’s suspension keeps it steady on rough roads, an athlete’s proprioception and vestibular control are critical for doing the same on the field of play. However, many of these stabilizing strategies are reflexive in nature and operate beneath conscious control. But like anything, the more time we spend challenging the system in this way, the better our body adapts. As strength coaches we understand the trade-off and simultaneous progress of slow to fast, light to heavy, and closed to open skills.
There is a similar continuum to balance and stability that I overlooked for a long time. Slowing things down can give athletes novel sensory inputs and awareness, which can be translated to new skills or learning.
Playing new sports or learning skills increases plasticity and adaptability. We are also able to manage arousal in a way that optimizes learning potential and movement access.
I still enjoy creating bigger, faster, and stronger athletes. However, there is a place for balance and stability (@jogajana is a great resource in this area).

I am happy to announce that I have accepted the position of Vice President of Athlete Performance and Wellness with the Philadelphia Flyers.

6 unforgettable years with the Pelicans.
Through every success, every challenge, and everything in between, I’ll always remember and cherish the people who made this place truly special.
Thank you, New Orleans Pelicans. I’m grateful for the memories and the growth.
Now, onto the next chapter.
I’m forever grateful to @_jstboss.nola and @neworleansboxingclub for welcoming me into your family over the past few years. It was a privilege learning the art and science of boxing from Josh Draughter and the other coaches of NOBC. NOBC is a special gym with a fighting spirit that you can feel the second you walk through the door. Until next time 🤝🫡⚜️
A couple of games into the new season, and the standard is already rising. We are grateful to be surrounded by the best in the business as we push our athletes forward every day. 🏀💪🏽 #NBSCA
Shoutout to @ayk_mekerdichian and his dad @mekerd , who made the epic trek from Sydney to Melbourne just to catch the Pelicans in action. Little did I know, Ayk rolled up with a fresh copy of Takeoff in hand, ready for a signature.
Ayk’s a dedicated hooper who’s deep into the mechanics of jump performance. Moments like these hit home and remind me why I write. Awesome to see Takeoff making its way so far from home. 🫡✈️📚
