Diablos y Mascaritas, LuzĂłn: one of the most intriguing carnivals in Spain.
They say that on the moor, once a year, devils leave the womb of Mother Earth through a crack no one knows. A thunder of cowbells announces to locals and strangers the arrival of the bearers of an ancestral mystery. A mixture of soot and oil marks the faces of those who allow themselves to be caught. Others, running in terror through the narrow streets, will come upon the âmascaritas,â wandering without direction, expressionless, like a silent presence.

As part of our flamenco Journey , we had the great privilege of interviewing and photographing one of todayâs most influential flamenco figures â Eva Yerbabuena, @eva_yerbabuena_cia also known as a muse to Master Carlos Saura #carlossaura .
The daughter of Andalusian migrants, Eva was born in Frankfurt before returning to Granada with her family just two weeks later. She began dancing at the age of eleven, initially to fulfil an auntâs wish â a gesture that slowly evolved into a lifelong calling. What started as play became devotion; over more than four decades, her instinctive, fluid movement has come to define contemporary flamenco.she remains a commanding presence â often regarded as one of Spainâs reigning queens of flamenco.

In the heat of june of 2022 we bumped into each other to shoot the CAPĂTULO IV campaign, between my old studio in Madrid and different locations around La Alcarria, Guadalajara like a 13th-century romanesque monastery and great earthy landscapes that fitted well with the collection.
After that, a very well-designed newspaper catalogue was released, and posters were hung around every major city.
Still one of my most cherished fashion projects to this day.
I think TĂscar was drawn to me for my curious, documentary eye; and I was so interested in her very structured, timeless and artisanal universe.
