Sweet Opiate is the second single from Yea-Ming and The Rumours' forthcoming album - Residue
"This song also came out of an experimentation in rhythm. I originally wanted this song to have a hypnotic and groovy lounge-y feel a la Stereolab. I think what came out of it sounds more like a disco-y St. Etienne or The Cardigans who I also love. That is the fun in experimentation!
I was really afraid to bring this song to the rest of the band, mostly because of the subject matter and the 180 degree shift in sound, but Luke was more than familiar with the drumbeat, and Eóin and Rob both knew exactly how to supplement the song. I was literally laughing in delight in the studio at how quickly they melded into the sound."
