𝘉𝘓𝘜𝘌 𝘋𝘙𝘌𝘈𝘔 is out! I feel a million things right now, but mainly I’m just so proud to share it with all of you. It was such an emotional and challenging journey, and there are so many things about making this record I am thankful for and remember so fondly: recording and tinkering with the songs in my little mud brick studio outside Melbourne during one of it’s many intense lockdowns, watching the gum trees sway on the hillside while singing vocals, sharing space and music and dinners and life with @cosyinchamomile and @doulalipa_ , opening up from the beautiful cozy fog of newborn life and letting in my good friend @seanhenrykenihan to help me finish the songs, watching @liamgoughdrums smash through all 11 drum tracks in 2 days, playing this music for the first time live with a band at @hopestradio ….and now, FINALLY releasing it, letting it go for anyone who wants to enjoy. It’s a grieving of sorts, a goodbye, an end of a chapter, but for the most part it just feels really fucking GOOD. Will be announcing some Fall shows soon to celebrate. 👋🏻 it’s me, Dandelion Head! You may have noticed the switch up over here, hope you feel ok about it. I sure do. Thanks Yay Blynn - but you always felt like a bit of a placeholder name for me, something I chose kinda quickly as I left behind the comfort and chaos of being in a band and jumped into what felt like a freefall, following my gut and creating solo work. I was looking through some old photos of me and my beloved Grandma, Nancy, and I was transported back to hearing her infectious laugh, her stubborn and incorrigible nature, her endless energy and zest for life. She was magnetic. She was the ringleader of our family and a killer role model for a young boy. She also used to call me Dandelion Head, a name she crowned me for my mop of blonde curls. We were a good team us two. The identity journey is a wild one, and this move cuts through some of the tethers that come with a name. Makes me feel free to explore and float away, while still feeling connected. Thank you Nancy :) Find all my music now by searching Dandelion Head. This Sunday is the first of the Coffeehouse residency series at Julie Restaurant With just one microphone these shows are a truly unplugged acoustic series in an intimate restaurant setting. We are really excited to be hosting talented musicians such as @sui_zhen @dandelion__head @tomlyngcoln @mick.turner in January with more shows to follow in February, March and April. Food and drinks will be available before each show and in the intermission, as well as desserts & coffee and tea. Tickets are available through the Julie website
