EXXY TRAILER DROP 👀💸 It's been 2.5 years in the making and finally our brand new show EXXY previews tonight. A huge thank you to all of the incredibly talented cast, creative, production, producing and access team members who have worked so hard to pull this beast together. We're very proud of it and hope you can come and see what we've made at @batterseaartscentre from tonight til 10th Oct or on our UK tour (link in bio!) this Autumn. We also couldn't have done this without the support of our commissioners and supporters. Thank you!🎉 SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE!

Introducing.... The cast of EXXY! 🔥 Joined on stage by three performers who walk and talk like him, Dan finds comfort in the possibility of finally blending in, after a lifetime of standing out. Sofía Valdiri - Sofía's body is considered ‘invalid’. Through her artistic work, she attempts to challenge this preconception. For her, the stage is a place to occupy in order to make the diversity of bodies visible. Tiiu Mortley - Tiiu is a London based performer with a passion for work, which exposes the harsh realities of living with a disability in the world today. Joe Brown - Joe has a real passion for new work, working inclusively, creating accessible work and showcasing and representing disabled peoples stories on stage. After a national call out and auditions across the UK, we are hyped to be working with these incredible performers to bring our biggest work to date to the stage. We premiere in October followed by a UK tour and international dates to be announced soon! ⚡

#theme_log At SICK! we always stay in the room after a performance. We talk. We unpack. We sit with what hit. And this one hit hard. 💥 The arts have been battered by cuts and crisis. Working-class artists and audiences? Too often left behind. Dan Daw grew up working class, with very little. Now he’s a world-class queer, disabled artist and storyteller, rising on the international stage. But here’s the truth: success doesn’t silence doubt. EXXY by Dan Daw Creative Projects takes on imposter syndrome head first. What happens when the doors open… but you still feel like you don’t belong? When the world has told you otherwise your whole life? If that lands with you: EXXY is for YOU. ❤️‍🔥 Presented by SICK! in partnership with Lowry 6 & 7 May, as part of Festival CPR – Beat One. Find tickets via thelowry.com or sickproductions.org We know times are tough right now. If cost is a barrier, email [email protected] if we can remove that barrier, we will. What Aussie vocal exercises sound like 🔊 Big vibes from EXXY rehearsals right here. IN EXXY, the celebrated queer and disabled dance artist @dandawcp takes us back to his working-class origins to reflect on where he started and examine the pressure to stay “on top” after his breakout success. 2025 what a year! Kicked off January at the incredible @utrfest NYC with The Dan Daw Show Back in the UK we rehearsed and premiered Over and Over (and over again) a @candocodancecompany commission with dan co-directing with the legendary @stefodriscoll We hopped over to Bern, Switzerland in May for the festival we co-curated with one of the best in the world @auawirleben EXXY auditions happened all across the UK in May with our final creative team r&d happening in June supported by @weareunltd . Beginning of August we did the final ever shows of The Dan Daw Show at @edintfest The end of August marked the beginning of rehearsals for EXXY, our biggest ever show co-directed with @thesarahblanc and welcoming back alot of our creative team from The Dan Daw Show as well as welcoming a whole bunch of new legends to the team! October, November and December saw the premiere of EXXY followed by the UK tour to the New Dimensions partners and the International premiere at @kampnagel_hamburg as well as announcing our next outing to @sydney_festival @sydneyoperahouse (!!!) We also ran a workshop with new pals @paraorchestra collaborating with their exceptional artist development programme. Our time at Kampnagel also marked the close of our three year relationship as residents /agents for change at this incredible organisation and what better way to finish the year than with a MESSY party?! Forever grateful to the partners, commissioners, venues, festivals, artists, technicians, access workers that helped us to make this year what it was! Video description: a montage of our year, a mixture of photos and videos mainly of smiling happy faces and audiences reactions.
