Digital Cover 005: BLUMITSU
“BLUMITSU distinguish themselves as a moving target - a reactive agent on the brink of breakthrough. In carving out a universe of their own, the duo leap over the constraints of reality to form a project that urges them to search inwards, tapping into a true, child-like intrigue for experimentation.”
The boundary-breaking collaboration between UK underground stalwarts Bluetoof and Jossy Mitsu, redefines the possibilities of electronic performance. Born from a shared love for experimentation and world-building, the duo fuses high-concept visuals, immersive stagecraft, and genre-warping sound design into a project that’s as theatrical as it is club-focused.
From their early Rinse FM residencies and a recent Asia tour, to the launch of their debut EP ‘The Formula’, and more recent project ‘Metamorphic’, released via Tempa, BLUMITSU operates as both sonic experiment and artistic manifesto—melding hazmat aesthetics, sci-fi influences, and blistering techno into a future-facing vision of nightlife.

Digital Cover 007: James Massiah
James Massiah is redefining what it means to be a modern day poet. Born and raised in South London, his work blurs the boundaries between literature, music and performance, creating output that is as emotionally resonant as it is culturally vital. Whether he’s performing at the Tate or DJing on NTS, Massiah draws on the language of his environment—grime, dancehall, spoken word and the pulse of London itself—to construct vivid portraits of love, loss, masculinity and belonging. His latest project ‘Bounty Law’ builds on this legacy, weaving themes of heartbreak and social decay into a deeply textured, genre-defying narrative he calls a “modern Western.” Through collaborations with artists shaping the edges of UK music, the project places Massiah at the intersection of poetry and sound, politics and intimacy.
But Massiah’s impact reaches far beyond the studio or stage. Over the past decade, he has been a driving force behind a new wave of live literary culture—one that ditches elitism in favour of openness, energy and emotional honesty. His long-running event series ‘Adult Entertainment’ invites people to gather not just to listen, but to share, connect and celebrate the power of language in its rawest form. Think poets reading from notes, drink in hand, before the DJ turns the floor into a dance space. It’s a rejection of tradition that doesn’t discard the craft—instead, it reimagines it for a generation raised online, shaped by chaos and searching for something real. In Massiah’s world, poetry isn’t just relevant—it’s essential.

Digital Cover 003: Joshua Samuels
Joshua Samuels isn’t here to lecture you about sustainability. He’s here to show you that clothing can be rebellious, soulful and sustainable—all at once. With a design philosophy rooted in upcycling, street-level storytelling and a punkish sense of humour, Joshua Samuels pieces feel like artefacts: part relic, part reimagination. They carry the fingerprints of their past lives—denim reworked with precision, forgotten tees made to feel wanted again, military surplus stitched into something poetic. It’s not about perfection; it’s about purpose.
Nothing of Joshua Samuels’ is mass-produced or trend-chased. Instead, each garment holds tension: between old and new, chaos and control, sentiment and statement. This is fashion that wears its history on its sleeve—literally.
In this cover story, Joshua Samuels opens up to us about his latest collection, how 2026 has been so far and how he balances the weight of culture, community and creativity on his back. From London roots to future plans, FO Baggies to Ruined Caps, this is a portrait of a designer building more than just clothes. He’s building a movement—with patience, purpose and a whole lot of soul…

Twenty years ago today, an anonymous producer from South London released a debut album that would reshape the emotional possibilities of electronic music. ‘Burial’ arrived with little fanfare, but its fractured rhythms and distant vocal samples quickly became a defining statement of modern hauntology, music seemingly haunted by lost futures and the fading memory of UK rave culture.
The album transformed dubstep from a club-focused offshoot of UK garage into something far more intimate and melancholic. Its sense of isolation and urban drift captured late-night London with striking emotional weight, proving the genre could carry vulnerability as powerfully as bass pressure.
The record’s cover art, designed by Burial himself, depicts an aerial view of South London near Wandsworth Prison and the junction of Trinity Road and Windmill Road. Much of the album was inspired by the producer’s solitary nighttime walks through the city while listening to music on headphones.

Released in 1996, Trainspotting became one of the defining British films of the decade.
Directed by Danny Boyle and adapted from Trainspotting, the dark comedy-drama stars Ewan McGregor alongside Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller, Kevin McKidd, Robert Carlyle and Kelly Macdonald in her screen debut.
Set in working-class Edinburgh, the film explores the harsh realities of heroin addiction, poverty and youth culture through the lives of a group of struggling friends. Widely praised by critics, the film earned a lasting reputation as one of the standout movies of the 1990s. It later ranked among the greatest British films ever made and inspired the 2017 sequel T2 Trainspotting.

South Korean beatboxer WING redefinined live electronic performance with his viral track “Dopamine” last year, using nothing but his voice and a loop station to create an entire soundscape in real time.
Without instruments, backing tracks or digital effects, WING layers basslines, melodies, and percussion live on stage, transforming beatboxing into a fully produced electronic experience built from scratch. Each sound is recorded and looped on the spot, with every transition and drop executed with producer-level precision.

Andrea Giacobbe’s photography from the 1990s captured the uncertainty and experimentation of a changing era while anticipating the digital visual culture that would define the decades ahead.
Blending surreal sci-fi aesthetics with early digital manipulation, his work pushed beyond traditional fashion and portrait photography. Beneath the imagery was an existential perspective that explored identity, technology and the shifting relationship between reality and artifice.

Overmono have just released new single “Lockup” and announced official details of their second album, ‘Pure Devotion’, arriving 7th August 2026 via XL Recordings.
Inspired by Simon Reynolds’ “Rip It Up and Start Again”, the track draws from the impulsive energy of post-punk, sampling cult Birmingham band Fast Relief’s “What A Waste” beneath pounding percussion, heavy basslines and emotive melodies. The accompanying visual was directed by longtime collaborator Rollo Jackson.
Named after the live series they launched in 2024, Pure Devotion spans 11 tracks and sees brothers Tom and Ed Russell push their production process into new territory. Built using vintage synthesisers, manipulated speaker systems and unconventional recording techniques, the album features vocal contributions from British poet John Joseph Holt, longtime collaborator Kindora and Paul Institute artist Ruthven.
Overmono will support the album with a run of major live dates throughout 2026, including appearances at Movement Festival, Primavera Sound, Down The Rabbit Hole and We Love Green, as well as a sold-out headline show at London’s Old Royal Naval College on 7th August.

Pitchfork just released their album review for Chris Brown’s ‘BROWN’, giving it a score of 1.3 out of 10, making it their lowest rated album this decade.
The publication led the review with: “Chris Brown’s soulless, hit-chasing new album doesn’t justify his return to the public eye.”
