Did you know that both HEAD COACHES of the teams involved in the NRL Grand Final are both qualified ASCA Strength and Conditioning Coaches? Craig Bellamy, head coach at the Melbourne Storm is an ASCA Level coach and worked at the Brisbane Broncos when we won in 1998 and 2000 (the second photo is year 2000, I am on the left with blonde hair…so long ago). He was in charge of Performance and conditioning and my role, under him was in charge of Strength and assistant conditioning. The current Broncos is an ASCA Level 1 coach and he used to work with Craig at the Storm. Top HEAD COACHES educate themselves and the ASCA has a tiered system for those who do not have a uni degree. How many HEAD COACHES in other sports around the world have S&C qualifications/education? Maybe more should (there are more HEAD coaches in the NRL than those two as well). #asca #strength&conditioning @the_asca

Today is the NRL Grand Final - rugby league (different to rugby union). My old club, the Brisbane Broncos play the great Melbourne Storm. The last time we played in this Grand Final, in 2006, my team the Broncos won in a very close contest. They have not won the Final since, losing in two attempts, while Melbourne has won plenty. So the Melbourne Storm are favourites today, but we all hope it will be a great game. Best luck to ALL the players involved, enjoy the day. The Broncos Women’s team also play today in the Women’s GF before the Men’s so good luck to them as well (I will be watching that as well)! If you have never watched NRL, watch today’s games - you will see why strength and conditioning are so important!

Living in Bali, Indonesia, you are living in an earthquake area (all of Indonesia is). You get used to them. We have a little contest, guess the Richter level asap and then see how close you were to official measure. Had one yesterday afternoon, I said 6.2, my wife said 5.2…it was smack in the middle at 5.7. I suppose I over-estimated because we are now living on the third floor and it shakes more up that high, with the momentum, compared to the past four years living at ground level!😄My wife has been in over 7 quakes here in Bali. This level is no worries as the buildings are all designed to withstand earthquakes (to a certain level) in this area. But the things we do for intellectual curiosity…🤣
