Last Year I did an event to honor my sweet friend who passed. I miss Matt all the time, sometimes the wind blows just right and I feel like they’re still here, or I’ll hear a laugh, or a smile, and they’re still around. My life centered around grief for so long, as friends and family seemed to check out randomly, and I was left to clean up the mess, and as anyone who’s ever done the work knows, a single mess sucks, but once they start to pile on, it begins to feel almost impossible. This birthed this concept, a single day to be able to honor the friends and family we’ve lost, be it our friend who has recently gone, or those were finally getting around to grieving in a meaningful way.
Thank you to Healer for allowing me the opportunity to have this. Thank you to all the artists involved. Thank you to
@karly.wav for the beautiful flier. Thank you to all of my friends I’ve ever cried on, who have comforted me over the years. The load is heavy, and the silence is sometimes deafening. And I’ve been frozen and torn apart by griefs teeth for years now. It’s comforting to know I’m not the only one.
@smeagol_trahald0 will be opening, the are one of my favorite people here. And it means a lot to finally have them opening a show for me.
@homage.indy is one of the best math rock bands in the city. Some of the sweetest most genuine souls I’ve ever gotten the pleasure to talk to. Producing these amazing tunes consistently.
@thlurmband rarely is a two piece powerviolence ever this good. DIY through and through, and hearts on their sleeves who have always believed in what they can do to better themselves and their community.
@onegoodyearband is only here for one year. Composed of my sweetest friends from Chicago, and familiar faces here. Everytime I’ve gone to Chicago in the past few years I’ve run into one of them. And everytime it’s a treat.
@danaskully317 Dana has been a long time friend, even having songs about mutual friend. Constantly impressed by their talent and their community efforts. The world would be a worse place if not for them and the comforts they give to others with their folk guitar soundscapes.
