‘Our Time Will Come’ - Waking Lights
Waking Lights was a band I was in from 2005–2014. Born and bred out of Northern New Jersey, It’s where I first really got my feet wet playing shows, touring, and learning what it meant to be part of a band.
Some of my closest lifelong friendships came out of those years, and I’m still really proud of the music we made.
Felt good to sit down with this one again.

Had a blast touring with @penguinprison back in the day (2014??). This is the tune ‘Never Gets Old’ off of their album Lost In New York. It’s a slippery little rattle snake because the kick swing and the hihat swing are just a little different - It was fun to nerd out on that again! P.S. @pertplus is a friggin beast. Learned a lot from him on that run. 🐧
Seems kinda fitting that I spent this past rainy LA weekend bringing a 70s 10x14 @ludwigdrumshq Vistalite concert tom once owned by Elliott Smith back to life. Something about the rain → Portland → LA → rainy music → Elliott Smith… you get it. @theshipstudio
Spent my birthday back east with all of my favorite people. Even snuck in a gig. I’m back home in LA now with a full belly, a full heart and a fairly open schedule. Holler for hangs and music n stuff.
