Does Earth Move When We Are In It and Why?
A Solo Exhibition by
Dan Commons
@dan.commons13
Commons examines how place is felt, carried, and lived. Working with found objects, ready mades, and photographic processes, Commons treats materials as records, marked by touch, use, and time.
Through acts of attention and physical appropriation, the work brings together traces of everyday life. These gestures point to a counterpublic that often goes unseen, shaped by systems that organise value, favour, and exclusion in contemporary Britain.
Across the exhibition, themes of violence, loss, despair, and hope sit side by side. Rather than offering resolution, the work holds these tensions in place, reflecting how class and lived experience continue to press on the body, the home, and the landscape.
