It may not be one of the new @blightbones modular skeletons, but there’s one of his skulls. I can’t remember which sprue I got the body from, but I had an idea for an incense waving serf for the in progress Necropolis group.
The thurible is from @mrjarrrrr ’s religious relics set with a cotton bud used for the smoke. The chain is from Tiddlylinks (thanks for the tip @dark_isles ).

I had a bit of downtime in the office yesterday so had a session adding another unit to the resurrected prophet gathering idea I’ve had for @owlshield ’s #necropolis28.
I went with the idea of a guardian to accompany him made from @blightbones extended denizen range & kept the grubby yellow/ochre theme running. With the modular skeleton set just made available and purchased, this gathering should see some momentum soon.

Considering I’m on a week off, this is the first time I’ve actually been able to paint!
The new Necropolis gathering/denizen leader using @blightbones bits was always going to be first up since I’ve had the idea going. I felt like changing the cloak up from my usual black/grey and wanted to do something yellow/ochre. I may have pushed the shades and darker glazes a bit too much, but you can’t be too grubby in the city of the dead. Now he just needs his procession.

With the new @blightbones modular skeletons on the horizon, I’ve had a brainwave for a new Necropolis gathering or group of denizens.
It began with the idea of a group carrying reliquaries or iconography, with one holding a box housing the conjoined skull with the 3 eye sockets I’ve recently shared in stories that lead to the idea of a resurrected saint and an entourage that accompany him. I had a copy of the skull with a mandible that I’ve stuck on a denizen body with another trademark brass wire halo. Both skulls having a nail bead in the middle eye to symbolise it’s one and the same and some sage, magical denotation.
This should be a fun project when I manage to get a set of the skeletons, hopefully soon.

April swayed heavily to the Necropolis28 setting for all my completed stuff. I knew I wasn’t going to get a load of stuff done this month, what with Fringefest, Salute, a funeral and only recently coming out the other side of illness, but this was a fun bunch to work through.
We’ll see what May brings with some time off on the horizon.

The original skull rook from @blightbones stood perched on a gravestone with @ramshackle_games ’s Lettuce inspired bascinets. Looking on as something is trying to rise from the grave.

Off sick for the last 2 days (thanks to my daughter for passing this vomiting bug over). I hadn’t the energy to paint but made up for it today.
This little guy nearly didn’t get done in time for @vaevictisminiatures #buttfish competition. The order was severely delayed by our postie and then the illness happened. However, I’m happy to report that he’s all finished in his slimey brilliance. Absolutely not intent on winning anything but just to participate. If he arrived sooner I’d have liked to have done more.

I tried to be clever and it didn’t quite work out.
I saw a mini painted by @echoesofimperium that had a red hue coming out from under a black top layer and I wanted to emulate it. I think I went too aggressive with the top drybrushing and concealed too much of the base layer. But still worth a try. Also annoyed I knocked the front spike off of the steeple in a clumsy mishandling.
I still really enjoyed trying something new on this Ossuary Womb by @great_grimoire .

Not new, but a slight change to my main Necropolis gathering. I wanted a more appropriately themed familiar and decided the Vessel of Agony by Dutchmogul (not on Instagram anymore I think) fits the bill. A similar look to the husks and also bound in chains to stop him from getting away.
I’m not at the event in Monday, wish I were, but there’ll be other times to put this bunch to the test. Maybe I’ll actually get to work on my game board that I’ve been meaning to for months 😄
