Stayed up at my desk until 11:30pm last night, and I loved every minute of it.
Joined a Type Crit session from the Type West Online program at @letterformarchive , kindly invited by the wonderful @sahafshar 🙏 It was also nice to see former colleagues and friends @jmsole.cl and @michele.ptn ❤️
Really impressed by the students’ work—thoughtful, well-crafted, and full of personality. But what stood out just as much was the atmosphere: welcoming, open, and genuinely collaborative.
Always inspiring to see this kind of learning environment in action. Thanks again for the invitation—can’t wait to see how the projects evolve 👏
An inspiring collaboration, feeling grateful to see my work for Chantelle Pulp featured on @itsnicethat 🙏

Back then, when I chose type design, it was for its obvious quiet, self-reflecting, introverted nature 🫣 Who would have thought that 17 years later, I'd be traveling 🚅 doing public speaking 🤓 workshops ✏️ and making so many connections 🤗
It's amazing how life can surprise us, nudging us out of our comfort zones in ways we never imagined. From the quiet moments behind the screen to standing in front of a room full of people, every step has been a reminder that growth often comes from unexpected places.
As 2024 draws to a close, I’m taking a moment to reflect on the incredible journey this year has been. A big thank you to everyone who has been part of it—your support and collaboration have made all the difference ❤️
Looking forward to what 2025 has in store!
I had the pleasure and honor of teaching a two-day course on type design at the @paris_school_luxury . It has been an enriching experience, allowing me to share my expertise with aspiring designers 🙌
Teaching students presents a unique blend of rewards and challenges, as educators play a crucial role in shaping students' creative skills and professional identities. The reward comes from witnessing students' growth and their passion for design, while the challenge lies in navigating diverse skill levels, fostering critical thinking, and preparing them for a competitive industry. Balancing theoretical knowledge with practical application is essential, as it is encouraging innovation and personal expression, ultimately guiding students toward successful careers in design.
In just two days, the course immerses students in the fundamentals of typography and type design, while also engaging them in practical skills such as letter drawing and the intricacies of its digitalization, thereby equipping them with a comprehensive understanding of what type design is.
The results speak for themselves; with no prior experience in type design, the work is outstanding 🌟
Thank you @jeveuxetreda , for your invitation and trust, and to all ten master's students for your incredible engagement and enthusiasm!
Last week was the very first event around @bymonotype 's Type Trends Report, and it was in Paris.
We invited four French agencies featured in the report to talk about their work. The success of the event would not have been possible without our talented speakers Matthieu @blazetype , Jérémie @grapheine_branding , Johan @brand_brothers , Alessandro and Thomas @lonsdaledesign and Christophe Badani. A thousand thanks for their generosity on stage and after with the audience. Their presentations gave us great insights into their creative process.
Thank you to our community in France for attending, your enthusiasm made the event an unforgettable time of sharing.
Special thanks to my beloved team for putting together such a memorable event, @amandine_dugas@billconnolly@paulinemeyer.lsm@marion.noellambert4@laurenegirbal@leorogerart , Aline and Kirsty.

Is this typeface classic, sharp, modern, all three things at the same time, nothing at all, something else? What do you think?

Expressivity has become one of the main motivations for the creation of new typefaces, as personal interpretations, or as a voice for the time designers live in. Personally, I do enjoy losing myself in the drawing of a modern classic Grotesk typeface, without any other ambition than being clear, simple and neutral. A goal not as easy as one may think it is. Such style is unforgivable, no bumps or kinks go unnoticed.

Have you ever seen the sound of letters? Nothing better than the variable font tech and a blow axis to magnify Captain Haddock’s rich palette of noises.

WIP for a condensed.
Family planning is a key aspect of font development. Defining weights, widths, styles, language coverage helps you assess the effort and cost it is going to take you to get the typeface done.
Some typefaces have large scopes covering all possibilities to show off the designer's creative abilities. It is needed to have such products in your collection, but in many cases it takes time and the nature of your product might not require everything.
Think from a user perspective. The end user might not be a creative.
