We did it man. The hardest 4+ hours of my life.
This year has been filled with challenges I never thought I’d face.
Sobriety and running have taught me a lot. Sobriety allowed me to control my thoughts when no one’s around. Running taught me how to push myself when no one’s watching. They taught me that not taking the easy way out is always worth the pain of the moment. Sobriety gave me peace. Running helped me keep it.
This journey has been me vs. me. A battle I used to lose day in and day out. My life took a complete 180 a little over a year ago. There’s been setbacks, relapses, injuries, pain, fear, uncertainty and discomfort the whole time. I couldn’t be more grateful for it all.
Thank you all so much for your support in this new phase of my life.
Thank you to @keepachildalive for allowing me to participate in this event
Thank you to the people of NYC whose support during the race is the ONLY reason I never quit.
