My first proper Tim Dalling gig at Cafe#9 - I first saw him he was supporting the The Unthanks and heard his song based on poem “Two lighthouse” (by Julia Darling) bought the album on the strength of that one song Tims FB profile /tim.dalling.1/ Tims song /track/two-lighthouses I did version before I started writing songs, back in the pandemonium - and before I had my kitchen done apparently My rip off version https://youtu.be/WvtLR3mg-Do?si=qb4QVUYBQ8kbOENT

Next up 👀✨ We’re proud to announce our next Creative Producer Programme NOVUM commission - @payal.ramchandani , creative producer, dance artist and choreographer, and founder of Plural Roots. Introducing Beats, Cycles & Song 🥁💃 An immersive live performance shaped with communities across Newcastle, co-created with community groups in the lead-up to the festival and brought together for one powerful shared moment at NOVUM Summer Festival. This is co-creation in motion; a conversation between South Indian classical percussion, Afro-rhythmic traditions and North East folk brought to life by musicians, movement artists and community groups. Expect rhythm you can feel. Energy you can’t stand still to. A collective pulse, created together. 💚 This project features an incredible mix of talent including afro-beat percussionist and composer @hannabiell Sanders (picture #2) and accordionist, pianist and songwriter @dallingtim (picture #3). “At its heart, this work will bring people and traditions together in shared space, creating a sense of collective belonging at NOVUM Summer Festival. Rooted in Newcastle’s spirit, where different cultures and communities shape the city together, it opens up access to art forms often experienced separately. At NOVUM, come for the music, feel the rhythm, move with it, and be part of something that begins to feel like home” - Payal Ramchandani - Creative producer & founder of Plural Roots Beats, Cycles & Song is part of NOVUM Summer Festival; a three-day takeover of culture, play and entertainment is coming to Newcastle city centre, Friday 7 – Sunday 9 August. Expect the unexpected and be the first to hear what’s landing. 👉Sign up to be the first in the know now: novumnewcastle.com - link in bio! #TheCityIsOurPlayground

🎶🎶🎶🎶NEW GIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!!🎶🎶🎶🎶 On Friday May 15th we welcome @dallingtim upstairs for an intimate double bill performance, one featuring Tim’s owns songs & stories & the other being his tribute show to the late, great Ivor Cutler… Tickets are limited & will be on sale from 9am Monday (30/03) via @eventbriteuk A small amount of physical tickets will be available over the bar from opening at 2pm Tuesday… 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶 Ivor Cutler and the Shinytribe: A double bill of songs and stories performed by Tim Dalling. The first half: “Help I Think I’m Turning Into Ivor Cutler” Tim’s tribute to the great folk-surrealist Ivor Cutler, hero of the Beatles (he was Buster Bloodvessel, the bus conductor in the Magical Mystery Tour) and John Peel (he was a regular doing sessions for Peel in the 70s and 80s). Beautiful, hilarious and weird songs performed as Ivor did accompanied with pedal-organ. The second half: “Songs of the Shinytribe” is a set of songs and stories, written and performed by Tim Dalling, accordionist, performer, songwriter and theatre-maker. His funky accordion and soulful voice have been likened to a cross between Randy Newman and Ivor Cutler. It is a celebration of birth, death, rituals, hares and dancing trees. Come along and be ready to laugh and cry.
