a visual love letter series to both sides of me
growing up and to this day i am always asked , “what are you?” like my identity was a multiple choice question with only one right answer. i wasn’t “full” Filipino enough, not “full” Chinese enough. on culture day in elementary school, i stood in front of my closet not knowing which part of me to wear.
i often struggled with my cultural identity, knowing i was always both.
Between Suns is that in-between place. it’s where the warmth & resilience of the Philippines meets the historical depth & beauty of China. where my lola’s strength and my gung gung’s qi live in the same breath. through texture, light, and memory.
this series is for everyone who’s ever been put in someone else’s box. for every soul who has ever wondered where they belong… you belong and shine whole through all of it.
