The Pass of Tears.
As it says on the tin, “the world’s most insane Patagonian horse race”.
Mountains higher, rock faces steeper, edges edgier and bogs deeper than one ever thought a horse would cross. Everyday longer than the one before, reaching new heights and precipices that would have seemed impassable in the days before. A ride that revealed the true extent of the unyielding spirit of the Argentine horse.
A huge privilege to have ridden with riders like
@rob.schmitt ,
@soyelgauchoo.ok ,
@mariaanliversage , Louis Jan Prinsloo,
@storm_jaco and
@wiesmannel . Many lessons learned about horsemanship and even more on friendship.
Thank you to
@justocruz.g.e and
@lolirau for outstanding, courageous horses - Gaucho, Vasco and Gato. To
@alcaldealejandro1984 for keeping my race going when he pulled Socco Trocco from his stable and his brother
@jesus.alcalde.1994 for his hospitality on the mountain. To the vet team who, with their expertise and compassion, kept our horses safe. To the medic team who patched us up and the comms team who, in the midst of a snowstorm across La Meseta de la Muerte, said “we’ve got you”. And to the mad, bad and dangerous to know -
@jakotango ,
@negromassuh and
@rama.gregorio - a million thank yous for this opportunity of a lifetime.
Not to forget,
@lhsi_1561 who managed to tolerate a teammate with many opinions and zero transferable skills.
Thank you all.
