Dagger Mastering

For quite some time now, we’ve wanted to create something which could truly showcase our more soulful and organic productions, without any restriction on tempo or any pressure to feel boxed in by genre. We knew we wanted a release which was longer-form, and had initially decided to write an EP which could display where we at musically. However, more and more ideas started surfacing which seemed to perfectly link together, as if connected by little threads. After about a year, we realised we had a full-length album on our hands, which was diverse enough to span all of the corners we wanted to hit but still felt connected and concise. We love this album, but perhaps more importantly, it was a genuine pleasure to write. Big projects can often feel overbearing, but this one felt natural, and came together without any forcing or sacrifice. The album is called Threads, and you can now pre-order it. We’ve got some (very) limited merch done in the form of some custom USB drives and boxes, which also contain a couple of bonus tracks for the collectors. TAROT007 | The Chariot - out now! Pt. 1 01. The Chariot Pt. 2 02. Metrics 03. Polygon This is a two part release so that I could engineer the tracks differently. Part one is an old track that I remixed recently, both tracks in part two were produced around July. Part one is a loud/modern ravey thing to catch your attention. Part two is a continuation from ‘Diminished’. I made both tracks after giving production tuition and catching a vibe. There is hardly any compression/limiting over the entirety of part two, this is to preserve as much dynamic range as possible and to contrast from part one. Lots of time signature changes, polyrhythms, polymeters, metric modulation, implied metric modulation… All the music words. They’re wild, and I think the best tunes I’ve made to date. Listen to them in headphones if you can. Perhaps the fancy music stuff doesn’t just happen down the centre… Who knows?
